Careful, this is destined to fall into the black hole of political discussion.

Exactly, and that is what's so scary. Peaceful protestors allegedly being shot with rubber bullets, tear gassed, attack by dogs, water cannons in sub zero temps. Apparently some LEOs have actually resigned rather that participate and CNN is now reporting a militia of US veterans is deploying to Standing Rock to defend the protestors against the militarized police forces. Very, very little media coverage.

Yeah, @Ernest Jones, now that I know what you're talking about… is this politics, or is it actual non-political news?

Here's the CNN article:

Well...I dunno...I would hope it would non-partisan. I would think that regardless of someone's political views, what is going on at Standing Rock would be viewed as abhorrent. But if you think this will devolve into a flame war, I guess just close the thread. Hard to imagine anyone taking the side of DAPL security forces, even if you are 100% pro-pipeline. Maybe I'm an optimist though...

If peaceful, law-abiding protestors are being harmed by law enforcement, you're right that's BS.

The trouble is, I'm not there and news sources are simply not reliable.

It's not like I automatically think law enforcement is always right (I've personally known ex-cops who are the epitome of racist, violent bullies), it's that regardless of how many members of a group are peaceful, there are sometimes others in that group who want to see a peaceful protest escalate into something ugly. The ends justify the means.

This has been going on for some time now and it doesn't even crack the top ten of CNN's top stories. That's sad because of what is dominating the news.

This has been strangely ignored by the media. Protestors are trying to protect the aquifer by stopping a pipeline that is trying to be forced through private and native American properties. I don't believe any of the protestors are armed but have been injured by militia.

It is highly suspicious.

Yeah. It's crazy that the quasi-media black out has been so successful. Today I read about a young woman whose arm was partially blown off by a concussion grenade. By all accounts these are unarmed, peaceful protestors protecting land that they own. The videos circulating in social media are appalling. Granted they are only showing one side of the story, but the complete lack of any attempt to show the other side of the story is pretty telling. I thought this kind of full-on, government sponsored, violent suppression was 100 years dead in the USA. Guess not.

I've seen the same information from news outlets that the media touts as "fake" news providers. It is starting to look like these conspiracy theorists  could be something to consider taking seriously. Sad thing is that this is really going on and really being ignored.

    • Day 314 - Putting some things together. Better grip/setup, fuller backswing, better finishing position. Filmed some swings, happy with the progress.
    • Day 130: did a stack session.
    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
