Got a chance to play Harding Park in Daly City, CA.
I've never been on the course; I've only seen it on TV when they play tournaments on the course.
holes playing center.
1st shot slammed a driver to be within a 9 iron. Hit the shot a little short. I'm nervous. 2nd round i've gotten to play all year so far (being from NJ).
had a 15' putt uphill breaking left at the end. Hit it to go birdie.
Shot a 40 in the front 9... BUT MESSED UP and shot a 45 in the back. I GOT NERVOUS!

One Tuesday last week. 4 iron into a par 5 green ( second shot )..... pitched 10 yards away from the hole and rolled within 2 feet. Short put for eagle, holed it. great shot!

Yesterday I was in the trap on a par 4 3rd shot. I figured I'd shoot nice and easily to the right and leave myself with a two-put. I accidentally crush it. It goes on a fringe slope, rolls down and ends up 5' from the hole. I happily tap it in for my only par. haha

Last Thursday, golfing with my Dr. of all people, slammed a 97 yard pitching wedge into the cup for an eagle, no bounce or anything! Best shot I ever hit in my life. Back to reality, bogey the next hole!!

430 Par 4 #16 - 3' off the green in 3, 35' to the pin. Chose to putt it, it circled the hole completely before dropping in for par.
I've spent most of my life golfing - the rest I've just wasted.

Highlight shot of the week-
Hit my drive behind a Pine tree in the left fairway with about 150 yrds to the pin that was slightly uphill. I barely hit the 4 iron(only 13 yrs old) that had a good draw and landed about 10 ft from the pin. 2 putted for par.

310 yard dog leg left. Hit a 3 iron off the tee and cut the angle down very nicely. Hit a hard draw up and out, i expected to cut the corner but I got a very nice roll, ended up hitting a LW from 55 yards out. I wound up paring the hole.

I think two shots, same hole Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, par 5, 3rd shot PW from 105 ends up 15" from the hole for a tap-in birdie.

Sunday, 3rd shot lob wedge from 60 yards almost goes in and ends up 4" from the hole for another tap-in birdie.

I was likin' that hole!!

I have two shots that I would consider my best shots of the week.

The first one was coming in on the par 4 9th. Pulled my tee shot slightly left of the fairway and ended up with a tree right in my line. I had to play it left and unfortunately there was no way I could cut it in (not something I'm all that good at anyway). Ends up I hook it long! End up with an 80 yard shot, downhill and over a mound with the green sloping away from me and blind due to the mound. Open up my 53° and swing hard......ball flight was super high but I figured I landed on the green and rolled off. One of my playing partneres says "That was a pretty good shot.". I walk up to where I can see.....4 ft. away from the cup. Now that was an adventurous par!

The other one was just a 50 yd pitch into the high side of a green (3rd shot of par 5) and watched it roll to within 2 inches. Not exciting....just that I actually executed what it was that I wanted to do.

First birdie of the season!
Par 4 - Left my approach shot right of the green and on the fringe, 25 ft from hole. Putted it in! I can't remember the last time I made a putt over 10 ft, so I was very happy and boy did that feel good.

311 yard par 4. Fairways were pretty hard and hole plays downhill. Instead of taking driver, I went with 3 iron to lay up. I ended up a yard short of the green. Chip and putt for birdie.

Best shot last week was a spoon from 230 metre. I had 230 left to the pin, I took my spoon and prepared, swinged and the ball landed about 2 inches from the pin. That was my 2nd shot on a par 5 hole so it was an easy Eagle :D (first this year btw)

550 yard par 5 dogleg right, 250 yards left after drive, ball just off the right ruff. Played a fade out of the ruff with my 3 wood to with in 3 feet of the pin. Missed the eagle putt, made birdie.

    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
    • Day 204 (22 Nov 24) - Weekly men’s group round today.  Temps in the upper 40’s, WNW winds 5-15mph - was the old man in the foursome (next youngest is my junior by 10yrs) - held my own against them.  Iron play getting more consistent -seeing predictable ball flights and distances. While the consistency coming around still had sone solid negatives as I had two dbls and one triple. On the plus side - eight pars and one birdie.
    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
