k this one ie good.let me set the scene ,it was getting dark fast could barely see the pin had 180 uphill all the way into the wind grabbed my 6 iron caught it perfect lost it in flight when i got to the green it had stopped 5 foot from the hole

the only good shot i hit today was my drive on #9 a par5 583yrd...
hit a low laser splitting the fw to 280ish
RUSS's avg drive - 230yrds and climbing

I had good scores this week, but not a whole lot of awesome shots. I guess it'd have to be an 8I from 145 over water into wind to about 20' that felt really good through the entire shot.

It was the 17th hole at one of my local courses. It's a 539 yd par 5. Elevated tees box and by elevated I mean a mountain. I pull out my trusty 3w and give it everything hit it 375 about 3 ft off the fairway take an 8i and put it 5 ft from the pin an putt for eagle. Probably the best hole of my life!!!

Today, I played in a tournament with a Captain and Crew format. To be perfectly honest, I do not like that type of event, and play in only two a year for that reason. However, I am proud of one particular shot. We were playing a downhill par 4 in tough weather conditions----light rain, temperature of 49 degrees, and windy. We had a good drive on the left side of the fairway, but had to hit a shot that would land on the bank of a pond, and let the ball run down and on the green. The green sloped away from us, and would not hold even a high wedge shot. I hit a perfect shot, and the ball ended up on the green, and only 4' above the hole! The sad thing is that we had four attempts at the birdie putt, the closest we came was to "burn the edge". A wasted opportunity, but nonetheless, we played the hole much better than the other foursome we were paired with.

My best shot of the week was on my home course on hole 14 a 497 yard par 5. I had a 40 foot putt to save par and canned it, I also was testing a new putter! So Im going to keep it!

56* on the 100-yard 17th at Quail Hollow Golf & Country Club in Oakham, MA. Closest-to-the-pin challenge. Flush shot going just left of the flag. REALLY tough green to hit. Very shallow from front-to-back, and crowned. Stuck it to about 7' and drilled the putt. Didn't get Closest-to-the-pin, though. The same guy who got longest drive did. Coincidence?

Yesterday I played absolutely horribly - even for me. Luckily, there are always a few shots that keep me from tossing my clubs into the lake and giving up for good. Yesterday it was a towering flop shot on a short par 4 on the back 9.

I hit my first shot into the long rough on the way right. My second shot also went right and I ended up about even with the pin but a good 40 yards right sitting on hardpan with about a 20 foot tall tree directly between me and the green.

I pulled out the sandwedge determined to break the head off, if necessary, before blading this shot. I hit down, the ball popped up and over the tree and landed nicely on the green 15 feet from the pin.

3 putts and it still wasn't in the hole.

My best shot this week was on a 510yd Par 5. My tee shot was about 200yds. I hit my hybrid about 170 yds and was about 140yds away. I hit my 5 Iron from there and it was no more than two feet away and I tapped it in for a birdie!

best for me this week came on a 171 par 3 during a best ball tournament, I teed off with my trusty 7 wood and stuck it 2 feet from the hole (thanks to the semi wet greens) even made my birdie put :)

i doubt you hit it 375 with a 3 wood

If you read the whole thing I said elevated tee box as in a mountain... My average drive is 290 anyways and if I hit my driver off that tee the it goes about 410 in the creek.

Hit my worst shot and then my best shot on a hole today. Had a 40m pitch over a sand bunker and grass swale to the green. Flubbed the pitch straight into the bunker. Left with 25m or so to the flag I waded in and knocked a great sand shot to 2' and saved for bogey. Normally I would have been looking triple bogey or worse after the shot into the bunker.

I call this weeks shot "The Jump Start"

#8, East Course at Quail Chase GC in Louisville. I was off to a terrible start for the day with 0/5 fairways and 2/7 GIR. Finally got a drive in the fairway off the tee. Pin was middle, so I had about 230 front and 245ish cup. If you go straight at it, its 220 yards of water followed by 3 side by side pot bunkers in front.... or you could bail out to the left side fairway. With the day I was having, I decided to go all Top Flite. (Man up and go for it!) I hit my 4 metal dead solid and carried the front of the green. Landed soft and I made a 15' uphiller for eagle!! Shot even for the next 10 holes for a smooth 76.

A nice chip in just off the green, PW weight on the front foot, ball back in stance, caught it clean, aimed right, roled smoothly into the hole. Saved par!

    • 70 today. The number looks good but, the course is a par 67 (5,110 yards, 64.3/115.). While the 70 took quite a few good shots to achieve, I am not counting that as shooting my age.
    • Played our town’s executive course this morning. Everything is closing but for now Huron Hills remains open. #13 is shaped like an upside down backwards L (dogleg left). Only 231 yard par 4. Dogleg has a tree guarding the corner and a sand bunker guards the green for those cutting the dogleg. Tiny green. About 10 years ago or more I would try to cut the dogleg. The hole is so short that even if one tangled with the tree or was bunkered, par was likely and birdie was still on the table. Now in my 70’s, I just hit it straight and try to wedge it close for birdie. Today I screwed up and pulled my drive. I wandered around a bit when my ball was not in the bunker. Finally located it on the approach to the green. Almost chipped in and tapped in the 2 inches for birdie. Best unintentional shot of the week. 😲

    • Why wouldn't it have? It's not like you were playing it as a 145yd par 5 and made a 2 or something.  Or not like it was playing 50yds to a temporary green or something either.
