I recently became aware of how clumsy and awkward I am with my non dominant side . .for me my left side.  It's effecting my swing - particularly obvious in the post impact zone.

How would you recommend I improve this . .my 2 thoughts are . .buy a left handed club and practice with it . . .and do something like yoga.  I am not really up on the latest trends with yoga and things like yoga . .so maybe something else is even better?

Thanks in advance for any tips/suggestions/ideas/anecdotes/mockery/etc . .that will help me strengthen and improve flexibility on my left side.  Anybody tried to make such an improvement and had success?

I do not know how relevant this might be, but a few years back, I had a lot of arthritic type problems, flexibility e.t.c. Nothing worked, therapy, hospitals, doctors. I then started taking a regimine of chondroitin and glucosmine pills from local Walgreens.  It worked miracles, no more pain, no more muscle spasms, and body just felt more fluid. Probably placebo effect, but I really dont care as long as it works

@iacas has a video on YouTube, "Mini Tire Drill for Pulls and Slices", I have been doing this drill except with a ten lb. weight. I hold the weight upright in my left hand and only palm it with my right.

A few years ago, I had a notion to take lessons from the left side.  The plan was to show up somewhere I'd never been, with a few left-handed clubs, and say I was new to the game.  I never did follow thru with it; but the idea is still lurking in the recesses.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."

That is a really awesome drill . .I'm going to do that..but for other reasons.

If you could really fool somebody that you were left handed . .that'd be pretty good!

Let's assume . .it's not totally true, of course . . but let's pretend . .that I was making the correct motions and my problem was that my strength and especially my flexibility was lacking on my left (non-dominant) side . .making it very awkward and difficult to "stay down" through the shot . .making it difficult for me to maintain my spine angle post impact.

I posted this right after my lesson . .my teacher says *maybe* I'm starting to reach a range of motion limitation . . . but I want to see if I can increase that range of motion.

edit - I'm going to look into a golf-specific yoga class in my town that I recently became aware of.

another edit . .I'm 43 and 40lbs overweight . .going to try to lose the weight, too.
