Holy sodding sod! How do you unload them? Cranes?

This is interesting because the LPGA comes to my course and they dont really do anything special to the range. They do move them all the way back and try to inch them forward so they dont rip up the whole range, but I would say 50% of our 75yd long practice tee is beat up. All grows back within a few weeks, but we dont notice because they will move the members up to the fresh grass and keep moving us around until its all healthy.

Holy cow! Where is this? It would seem to me that the practice tee had to be pretty chewed up, and they needed a quick fix.

It also reminds me of something that was on the "Bob & Tom Show", a morning radio show. They invited Fuzzy Zoeller out to try to hit a hole in one at some golf course. They set him up on a par 3 tee, and he went to work. At one point they remarked on how he was chewing up the tee. Zoeller said, something like, "Yeah, if you want to get a tee all chopped up, just turn a bunch of pros loose on it!"

BTW, he did hit a hole in one!

I once built a 35 acre park. The original plan was to grow the grass needed. Almost at the last minute, those in charge decided they needed to sod the area, because governor was going to attend the grand opening.

Big rolls of sod, like those pictured above, were brought in. They were off loaded by fork lifts at specific spots, and rolled out with a truck. At one point I had 700 lanscapers on the project. They sodded the whole 35 acres in about 24 hours.

The governor was pleased for the 30 minutes he was there. :-P

Southern Rhode Island has sod farms. The first time I saw them (on a bike ride) I couldn't figure out what they were at first. Why would a farmer just plant grass? Then it dawned on me, sod farm!

I did have the urge to go grab my clubs and "practice" on them!

There's a sod farm on the way to Rochester (or maybe it's even short of Buffalo) that doubles as a bunch of soccer fields. Good way to double up on the profit(s).
