I see that cobra has started incorporating a monitoring device in their grips. At first they were using the Arcos system, but now it appears they have their own, but I could be mistaken. I am wondering how it compares to Game Golf Live. They did not mention whether or not you have to tap the club or not and also something about the "sound" tells the device when you have actually struck a ball. Accuracy, I do not know. All take a smart phone is my understanding. (I have only took a cursory glance).

I'd have to look it up. I think it was part of the regular marketing ad from the Cobra site. I was looking at the King F7 plus at the time. If I can find it, I will post. Okay, on 2nd look it is Cobra Connect (powered by Arccos)

I guess one should read a bit. I watched the videos on the above mentioned Cobra site. To me, its not much more than a GPS like the ones on a Garmin or Neo watch with a few more bells and whistles. It does not give any launch data, just distance stats, accuracy %, and the ability to compare with others. The Garmin can do much of the same thing and to me is more convenient. Unless I am missing something. (would not be the first time)

  • iacas changed the title to Cobra's King F7 Driver with Arccos

It's Cobra Connect from Arccos.  To your point it's really only providing stats related to the driver itself.  It's a great add-on IMO because it gives golfers more info about their performace off the tee and can make the game more social.

The full Arccos system or Game Golf are much better options if you're looking for a full-game stat solution.

yah, I kinda figured that out once I read the page in its entirety. I still do not understand completely how it works with the sensor built into the grip of the driver and that simply the sound of contact "starts" the analysis. whereas, each club with Golf Game has its own sensor and you
"tap" each shot.  I am sure that once I actually did it, it would make perfect sense. Meanwhile, the Garmin Approach watch gives me what I need i.e.distance to middle of green or distance of current shot. I never use the score keeping feature. I like the convenience of just glancing at the watch, not having to "play back" on a smart phone, and I have no interest what-so-ever in uploading a round to compare with others.  Granted an actual range finder would be beneficial, but I would not like the time required to use it on the course. I have a peeve about those who scope out each and every shot, knowing full well, they are not going to even come close. But tha's just me. There are probably a myriad of  reasons for justification.

It's an interesting the club makers are starting to integrate technology like this right into the club at purchase time.  The possibilities are endless, but for reasons you mention, @Hacker James, not everyone will be interested in the features.

Perhaps, club makers will offer it all only as an option for those golfers who are interested. At this point, I don't think the technology is quite mature enough to gain a significant market share, but who knows. Maybe it catches on, but still seems to me it makes more sense as a third-party offering.

Oh man! I can't remember the name of the gizmo, but there was something like this demonstrated on Revolution Golf last year. It plugged into the butt end of your grip in the drip hole. You downloaded a free app to your smart phone and then synced the phone up to the device. The guy demonstrated it by hitting in front of his Trackman and comparing the numbers. They were surprisingly close! And it gave a whole lot more data than this Cobra thing seems to.

Maybe someone else knows, or if I can remember it I'll post back.

    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
