Finally had great golf weather here this weekend. The wife and I and another couple scheduled 18 at Morgan Creek, a local course that I really like. I teed up my Snell Get Sums for the first time and enjoyed the ball. On the good side, they were very nice off the tee. They are as long as any ball I've played, and straight. I hit some drives pretty high and long, and several medium-height and long. Long for me is 220-260 range. The one things I wasn't sold on for these balls is how they came off my irons. I tended to hit them high, resulting in shorter distances. "Shorter" would be compared to the previous balls I played - the Velocity. They felt nice with the irons - not too hard at all. But, they do go plenty high. The greens were very hard on this course today and I didn't spin any shots backwards, which is unusual for me. I am curious to try the MTB soon to see how those compare off the irons.

Custom fit RBZ irons. Taylormade RBZ driver. Some crappy old high-bounce Macgregor wedge and an even older Mizuno 5 wood. Haven't settled on a ball yet - still looking. Decades of football, weightlifting and boxing came together to create the world's worst golfer. I'm slowly correcting that now.

Have not played the Get Sum ball, but play the MTB now.  Been very impressed with it.  Compresses very well off my irons, great performance around the greens, could go on and on.  Would put it up against any other ball in the marketplace right now.

Thank you for the update and review.  I am looking to try the Get Sum and think I will order a trail pack.  Try both the Get Sum and MTB.

Just purchased the Get Sums via the sponsor link, and will try those.

I recently won and played with the MTB's and am afraid I'll get hooked if I play them too much. wow, they felt great.

In fact, since I won them, I gave away a couple sleeves to older guys I was paired with at the course, and they were absolutely thrilled. Not sure they'll show up here on TST, but one guy thought he might join. He tried the MTBs on the back 9 and loved them (he was about a 10 capper).

I felt like Santa Claus giving away free stuff (never done that before!), but the topic came up as we chatted through the round,  and these guys were really cool and interested in trying a new ball. Not sure he was just being nice, but he thought he was gonna make the switch he liked the way they felt so much!

Disclosure statement: I changed my swing quite a bit over the winter and that, apparently, has resulted in higher shots - as I've learned on the range.

The question in my mind is how the MTB (or any ball more like it) would compare with the Get Sum (or similar 2-piece) off the mid-irons. Will get me a doz MTBs and report back on my findings. I still am working through a couple dozen Project(a) balls and can balloon those with the mid irons like nobody's business - rocket launches into the clouds - haha...

Getting hooked to a great performing ball, that comes at a great price, sounds like a great situation haha

Glad to hear the weather has cleared up for you, and you're out playing.  If it's helpful, I didn't really notice the Get Sum ballooning when I tried them (I have with other balls in the past, e.g. Nike PD Soft).  I don't notice it with the MTB either.

As far as your question, I think some balls are designed to balloon a little more, to help golfers with lower swing speeds get a little more height, which translates to a little more distance.  I'm sure there are others who understand it better than me, who can maybe confirm, or give you better info on the differences in ball performance.

Thanks Mr. Bang Bang. I've been mulling this over and realized I have a tendency to get the ball a little forward in my stance. So, that will be the first little adjustment as I work my way through my ball inventory.

I liked the Get Sum quite a bit. Just a straight up and down good ball, like some of the lower end Titleist.

I'm pretty interested in buying the MTB's now too. Pretty hooked on Chrome Softs feel, but I hate thinking the MTB is just as good, yet cheaper.

Plus they apparently redesigned the appearance. Originally that SNELL logo was a bit too bold for me, but now it looks sharp.

Yea, I'd put the Get Sum right there with an NXT Tour (which aren't exactly low end).  When I got the sample pack, I tested the Get Sum against an NXT Tour and the original Chrome.  There were no noticeable differences to me, other than the Chrome maybe grabbed the green a little better.

The new look of the MTB is a lot nicer than the original.  It's a great performing ball, and the only one I'll come out of pocket for at the moment.  It's worth giving it a try.

A couple years ago when I played the NXT Tour I thought it felt surprisingly rock-like. Haven't it one in quite a while now. I didn't get a rock feeling from the Get Sum. I hit some very good drives with the Get Sum...

    • Day 80: a bunch of mirror work ole watching Michigan lose. Working on grip and downswing feels.
    • Day 5 - 2024-10-05 Hit some somewhat soft pitching wedges. The outside and inside, particularly the outside of the left thumb where my right hand goes on it, is still pretty sore. I don't think I'll do more damage, but I'm reluctant to do too much because I don't want to compensate or alter my motion.
    • Day 156 (05 Sep 24) - Played new to me course today, it’s near our beach place and have been wanting to play it for a couple of years now.  It’s a neat Par 70 that plays just over 6k from the tips, played the whites 5,500 +/-.  Tight fairways and severely undulating greens made for some great shot strategy.  Wound up with an even 80 that included two lost ball penalties.  Putter was solid - 28 total.  Wedge play kept the pars happening - 6 of the 9 pars were up and downs.  Not bad for the first time on a new course.
