I wish this guy would either donate me his golf game or his Wall Street career.  I'd be happy with either, I'm not picky.

It's crazy that some guys have it all.  Like Jake Owen.  The guy is a scratch golfer and makes millions a year in the music industry.

I played a party/drinking round once with a country singer/gulf coast satellite tour player. He went on to perform at the Houston Rodeo (which is kind of a big deal there).

I swear he drank about a beer a hole and shot under par - one of the most "impressive" drinking & golfing exhibitions I have ever seen. His golf career never took off, and last I heard his drinking and other issues crashed and burned his C&W career.

Might be urban, but he's still got money. Golf isn't really a sport for the poor. Money is a great equalizer in many cases.

And time. The commute time to Deepdale can be at least an hour one way with traffic, get snarled in traffic, it can be 2 hours. Plus he works in BK, the indoor place is on 30 something street in Manhattan. That's at least a 1/2 hour commute, some BK lines less frequent.

It sounds glamorous, his job but the article says he was working in a Brooklyn basement where the ceilings weren't high enough for him, he has to duck. He's not in a high floor of a gleaming tower corner office surrounded by beautiful secretaries, fully stocked kitchen, using the newest computers, expensing the swankiest restaurants for lunch, looking on down. And when you get that paycheck, effectively half of it is gone to taxes, insurance, 401K, etc... Don't get me wrong he's doing well, but he was grinding. You get a guy who fakes I love golf on camera versus this low am's past actions - you don't have to ask him if he loves golf, his history proves it.

You nailed it KP.  Hell, I'd say that many folks don't understand or appreciate the amount of work required to get to a low single-digit handicap, let alone what it takes to turn pro or even play at a high Am level.

There are a lot of really good golfers around here and the fact that no one advanced in the Mid Am says a lot.
