Hey all,

So im going to apply for a job at a golf course, valley ridge, that is realtively close to my house. So i need to wrtie my resume, what should i put on it? Im 15 years old. I have my bronze cross for life saving, 80-85% avergae at school, play competitve sports including provincial soccer and basketball. Are these things i should put on my resume?
What should i expect when i work at a golf course? This is my home course im not a member but play at this course the most as it is semi-private.
Thanks,

Being 15 and have never worked at a golf course before maybe a simple one that states your a student and would like to work for Vally Ridge Golf Course this summer in any position available.
Be careful that you say work on the course or you could in up in the snack bar/restaurant.

I think you brought up positive experiences that you should include on your resume. You may also want to think of something that shows your commitment to hard work and maturity. Perhaps a little tidbit about how you help out your folks as much as possible around the house by cutting the grass, shoveling snow off the driveway, helping paint the house, etc. Something which shows you're not shy of hard work.

If you get the job, I'd expect you'd get all of the low end tasks at first. Cleaning member's clubs, tidying up the grounds around the club house, running errands for the golf pros and other employees, maybe freshening up the bunkers in the morning. Over time, your boss will add to your responsibilities with work that requires experience such as help maintaining the greens.

Best of luck!

i cant believe they are asking for a resume at 15. lol. I started working at a golf course at 14 with a workers permit. I was mainly a cart boy, taking care of the carts, cleaning, getting them ready for tournements and play. i also took care of the water and trash cans on the course. Overall, it was a fun job but I was fired because I went and played golf one afternoon while on the clock..whoops I was young and dumb. so ya, dont do that if you get the job lol

You really don't need to put anything special, I'm guessing you are applying for a Cart Attendant, which is a job with no experience needed, but good luck

Real Men work ON THE COURSE ! What are you applying for? I'm a 20 year Golf Course guy...and I'm not a "CartBOY"! If your a "CartBOY" the hardest thing you'll probably do is lift a bag, maybe clean a cart or wipe some clubs. Do they have a range? Then you might pick and clean balls. (snicker snicker)

"Cart Boy", is that what your applying for? If ya work on the course your gonna have to get dirty! It usually seperates the "MEN" from the "boys"!!!!!!!!

Yes. It is what you have achieved and it impresses me. "What should i expect when i work at a golf course?" Most of the people will be decent if not magnanimous. Since it's semi-private, expect some people (not many) to address you as if they own you. Those are the people that give golf a bad social image.

i work at the local driving range, either on the tractor collecting balls or on the fenceline clering balls off the fence. driving the tractor seemed cool to start with but it is annoying later because once you have collected the balls you fill a trailer(full) and then connect the tow ball to the trailer. then you disconnect the pall picking rig which is two two balls on the front of the tractor. this can be difficult as they are dirtied completely with grease.(putting it back on is harder.) the you drive up back past the driving range then you have to pass the balls through a washing machine thing and then if theyre are broken balls in it, it stops and you have to fix it. then once that happens and gets on your nerves then the pro gets you to do some shitty personal job.

but have fun enquiring!

Normally, pro shop and course maintenence are two seperate entities. The Director of golf/head pro runs the pro shop and the superintendent runs the maintenence crew. If you want to work on the course in that capacity you will probably need to apply with the maintenence supervisor. If you want to work doing carts or range then the head pro is your guy.

I have worked at golf courses for 11 years let me give you a tip. Apply to be a cart attendant. Its the kids that carry bags to the carts, clean your clubs, etc. They get tipped! You can make a decent amount of money on a good saturday afternoon if you hustle. Go the extra mile and the players will take care of you. Some places I have known, the kids can make over $200 on a good weekend (Sat/ Sun).

    • Possibly, deffo trying to weaken my right hand somewhat. Left hand I believe is fine as I'm mostly fingers there with grip under the fat pad. But my lesson tomorrow will hopefully shed some light
    • I'm not sure.  What could this do that any of the documentaries on this dude haven't already done? I will say, I remember this unfolding in real life back in the day. My sister and I watched this as it happened. Then we heard about the fact that the studio wasn't going to pay him. But then they finally did pay him.
    • Could also be how you align your wrists and rotate your forearms. Not sure you are re-gripping the club. There is nothing noticeable in the videos. I do agree with the grip being very strong in the right hand. Also, maybe too much in the palm of the left hand.
    • First one. If it’s not some bs “mistake” like I should have made that 12’ putt for birdie and actually correctable then it’s a learning experience and it means I’m good enough to win. I don’t play the club championships at my county courses because the best I can hope for is the second option and I kind of don’t see the point in that.
