I'm thinking about getting a 56* with some xmas $$$, and since I have a tough time generating spin with my swing, I need some advice on which wedges give you the most spin.

i think golf digest just talked about this recently. the wedge that puts the most spin on the ball are the spin-milled titleist vokey wedges.

I recently picked up the Ping Tour W Wedge and they are great in terms of look, feel and spin. I'd give them a try.

Consider also a shaft that generates spin!

Like I have the Rifle Spinner Wedge Shaft.

hi,

i have 3 Vokey wedges in the bag. 48 PW (Oil Can Rusted), 56 SW (Chrome) and a 60 LW (Oil Can Rusted).

I get a LOT of grip and spin from both the SW and the LW.

I would suggest grabbing a 60. But remember, open that stance right up. Also, a stiff shaft helps.

In my opinion it's got to be the Titleist Vokey spin-milled.

When I tried them out it felt like they were tearing the 1st layer of the ball off!

As far as I know it's Vokey Spin Milled wedges. But has anyone had any experiences with Japanese wedges like Yururi, Chikara, etc?

Yes Japanese wedges do have a great spin factor . Aside from having square grooves some have their club faces deep milled for that extra grab on the ball . Kinda expensive but they are worth it . Yururi came out with a Black oxide looking wedge a year or two ago . These are tour inspired and if you can get hold on one of these you are going to bring your short game another notch .

Swing mechanics , club face , ball contact , loft factor/bounce . These are some of the facts to consider . For plays requiring you spin the ball back a couple of feet try using the bounce of the club head . Meaning , try to hit down on the ball with a complete follow through making a divot in front of the ball rather than at the back . To stop the ball dead you can flop the ball with a divot on the exact spot where the ball lie and complete the follow through . Thats what i did according to David Leadbetter and it works .

I agree! I picked up a Tour-W 60/8, it is awesome, drop and stop or check and spin back, this club can do it....but then again, i'm biased, i'm a Ping Ho

I love my Rac TP. It spins, in my opinion, as much as a Titleist Spin Milled

I heard the X-tours with the mack-daddy grooves are suppose to be pretty SICK!!! I have a 60 without the MD grooves only because the bounce I wanted doesn't come with the MD grooves.

I have heard stories that the grooves can take chucks out of the softer balls, like the HX-tour and Pro V's.

    • Have a 19° (moved to 20.5°) Titleist 915H. I just love the club. Beautiful feel off the sweetspot, high launch, soft landing. Versatile. In the future, with less overall speed I will replace my 4 and 5 irons with another hybrid, something around 26°.
    • Broke the head of a Stealth Plus on a warm up. TaylorMade send me a new head but I decided to upgrade it to the new IQ10 LS and pay the difference. While I was waiting for the 8° head to arrive at the store I messed around with all the multi brand putts they had available. I instantly liked a black TaylorMade Spider, not the new one but very similar. The weight felt perfect. Big line in the middle for easy alignment. I was playing and old Zebra so the change in technology and feel was huge. Fast review of both clubs.. Driver QI10 LS. I always hit to ball up in the sky. I was playing the stealth at 7° with a 60g X low flight shaft and I was still hitting it pretty high. With the QI10 playing it at 6° now is almost hard for me to hit it high, with the same shaft the ball comes out lower and with less spin. so I'm really happy with the change. Putter Spider. I love it. It took me an afternoon to figure out how to grip it (it comes with a superStroke grip) but after that it all came into place. More stable on short putts and a good weight to swing smoothly on long putts and with added forgiveness over my old zebra.
    • I have a 2h but we don’t get along anymore. It’s a bit of an abusive relationship - she gives me just enough hope once in a while that things are going to be better and then it’s back to the same old shit. I went to a PING fitting recently with the intention to replace the hybrid with a 5w or something, thinking maybe I’ll be better with a fairway wood than a hybrid. But it turns out the best club I hit that fits in that slot in the bag is another hybrid so I ordered it.
    • Day 547, May 2, 2024 18 holes with @DrizZzY using my TruStick®. Hit a LOT of really good shots today.
    • Not the last thing I bought or bought anything at all but Sun Day Red stuff seems a bit overpriced for it essentially being rebranded Nike apparel. I'm hearing the resale prices are wild though. Either way, I highly doubt I will indulge as I'm not much of a brand guy or a collector. But to keep up my super nice guy image have never turned down a gift though 😇 Tiger doesn't seem to sell stuff like MJ or Kanye did.
