I've found my FJ WeatherSof glove a little slippery when it's really hot & humid. So I dropped $23 on a Titleist Players glove yesterday, and hit a small bucket of balls this morning. Basically blew out the glove already, paper thin where the butt of my grip rests. That's where I've always blown out gloves, but I usually get a full season out of a glove. Back to the cheapo WeatherSof. Ouch...

WILSON  I got mine at Big 5  Sports Goods. Best wearing  glove I have ever owned and under $10.

The WeatherSof is wearing well, I was looking for something with better grip (tacky?) and similar wear.

Are you gripping the club to much in the palm and too loosely?

Could be. That's where/how I've always gripped a club for 50 years, though that doesn't make it right. But I hit it thin about 1/3rd of the time, and almost never hit it fat, so gripping further down would make it even harder for me to hit center? And I took two lessons with the local pro, she told me to loosen my grip. I am guessing I need a +0.5-0.75 shafts based on my height/WTF, but I haven't gone for fitting yet. So I'm confused?

Being a better baseball player in my younger days than a golfer, I got use to wearing batting gloves. Wore two of them. I carried them over into my golf game. They last a very long time, at $10.00 a pair, they are very economical, and they do the same thing as a golf glove.

I would check out this thread,

Grip pressure depends on the golfer. I am sure, when PGA Tour players say grip the club loosely they are making that comment with regards that they have very strong hands from constantly hitting shots. To them, gripping loosely might exert the same pressure as amateurs gripping the club firmly.

I always try to grip the club as firm as I can with out tensing the arms. You can get a pretty good firm grip doing this.

Grip the club firmly and in the base of the fingers. That wear mark is too high up.

Thin shots from a palmy grip are pretty common - you probably flip a bit trying to square the face.

If you're looking for inexpensive gloves that are tackier than Weathersof, you could try MG gloves. I don;t find them to wear as well as Weathersof gloves, but they are softer and tackier (and cheap).

I've had pretty good luck with how long Nike golf gloves have lasted in the past. That said, do they even make golf gloves anymore? I haven't used a glove the last two rounds I've played because the thumb finally wore through on mine. I think it lasted 4 or 5 months? Granted it had a reinforced area stitched into the palm area, in a similar area to the wear in the above picture,  that wore through the first layer just before the thumb gave out though.
