Even with all the reviews on these two balls, I can't seem to find an actual comparison BETWEEN the two? Has anyone played one against the other? If so, your thoughts please?

Thanks!

Pro V1 produces more spin. Personally, I use the V1x with less spin which gives me a little more distance off the tee. The V1 spun too much for me with my scoring irons. So, if you need more spin choose the V1, if not the V1x probably the best choice between the two.

I enjoy playing both the Prov1 and Prov1X. The Prov1 is the ball that i play on average days. It is softer and spins more than the Prov1X. That being said, I like to hit the Prov1X on days where the wind is howling because it is harder (and ever so slightly longer) and it spins less. So this would be my overall summary for the comparison of these two excellent balls.

Longer: Prov1X
Softer: ProV1
More Spin: ProV1
Durability: ProV1
Better wind ball: ProV1X

I was told V1x is made for player with high club head speed and mine is a little over 100mph, I like V1 more; it is softer and gives me bit more "feel" around the green.

I can't remember which one, but one of the major golf magazines has a ball review with 50 or 60 different balls including the V series. I actually chose the Titleist NXT Tour because of the reviews.

the article is in the feb 08 golf magazine. after reading it i decided to try a sleeve of both the bridgestone e5 and e6...the e5 spun wayyy too much in my experience, causing increased hooks and slices, as well as 7 irons spinning off the front of greens. the e6 wasnt too bad of a ball, nice ball flight, good spin, but not very long.

i just looked at the article again and i may have to try out the nxt tour like you did. FYI ive heard alot of good things about the new callaway hx hot bite, but havent tried it yet. anyone agree/disagree?

Haven't tried the Callaway yet. Just got my NXT Tours in the mail. We'll see how they do the next time the weather here breaks 40 and I can chip in the park or I go to play indoors.

I had a chance to read the Golf Magazine comparisons on balls...now I'm really confused? Their findings were:

V1x is longer that the V1 (not by much though)

V1x spins more than the V1

V1x is softer than the V1

Titleist's website claims that the ProV1 is more durable, but if it is it isn't by much.

I also have the Feb. '08 issue of GOLF magazine. It has a very good article called "The BEST BALL FOR YOU"... I think it will tell you way more than you would ever need to know. Sometimes too much info can get confusing, but, information is power. I use the Titleist NXT tour for the cost versus performance aspects. For me, the NXT is right on the money!

i read the magazine-recomending a ball that spins alot for hackers is dumb. i want my ball to slice LESS, not more!! and a hacker isn't going to spend 40+ dollars on box o balls. at least not me...i will stick to my bridgsteone e5s and e6s and nxt tours, thank you very much.

I second what has been said here multiple times. The Prov1x tends to spin a little less and play just slightly longer. This tends to be my ball of choice.

Coincidentally if you are looking at purchasing some used balls of eBay or similar site the ProV1x tends to be a little cheaper.

Has anyone tried the new Callaway ball?

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
