For those who like baseball analytics and sabermetrics will probably know of Fangraphs. I found this website about 5 years ago doing research for Fantasy Baseball. They have really good articles delving into the technical details of baseball.

Here is a good look at Corey Kluber's unique breaking ball.

Great stuff @saevel25.  As a Cleveland fan it has been pretty amazing watching him pitch.  The amazing thing is the command he has with a pitch that moves that much.

Also never seen someone with that little emotion.  He's like a robot.  Baseball version of Iron Byron.

Fairways and Greens.

They used to call that a slurve. Do the analytics people not use that term? Seems kind of like they are trying to pigeonhole it which Kluber himself doesn't care for.

I call it just plain nasty.

I'm a Tribe fan as well, and what's amazing to me is that Kluber was not that highly thought of early on. But, the Tribe brass saw something and grabbed him. It's all about his work ethic. He has made himself into what he is today.

What's most impressive to me is the amount of horizontal movement he gets out of such a high arm slot. Guys like Chris Sale and Randy Johnson get/got crazy horizontal movement, but throwing sidearm helps that. Kluber comes pretty over the top.

I think he should be in the lead for the AL CY Young Award.

He's #1 in

    • Day 126: another busy day, so just did some mirror work. Checking set up and backswing and working on a few downswing feels.
    • Day 310 - Working on my follow-through. Higher chest, belt towards the target. Small swings at first, building to a fuller swing (still not thrilled with my short backswing).
    • Day 201 (19 Nov 24) - Walked the back nine at Minnesott today, played the “white” tees with the persimmon woods and bladed irons.  It’s a challenge I really like as the clubs are shorter in overall distances.  It really forces me focus on the value of the approach game.     Somehow yesterday’s post did not load / so it’s above.  Today (Day 202) I did some backyard short yardage work - 7i dink  and rolls, 9i chips and 50deg pitches - working to get it in before the rain started around noon.
    • Day 51 - 2024-11-20 Played nine holes of Sanctuary Moon with a 6I while pausing in the backswing and otherwise just practicing. If you're into Star Wars, or don't actively hate it… this is worth checking out.
