And golfweek gets the story wrong (or an incorrect fact), beyond failing to mention she was ineligible to win as an individual in boys (because she has the opportunity to compete in the girls individual title in the spring)... I can’t stand these modern day media hacks

Nash’s high school does not have a boys team that plays in the fall – only in the spring. That was the reason why she was playing with the boys last week – and, according to state high school rules – the reason why she was not allowed to compete in the fall state tournament or receive her trophy.

So I just looked up the Annika results. She finished dead last, 55 strokes behind the winner. Oh well...

Yeah, but imagine if those boys had to play in this event....

Most high school golfers are not that good. When I was playing there it seemed were maybe 4-6 golfers in the entire school district (excluding my teammates) who could even had a shot at breaking 80 when they had us playing the white/blue tees on municipal courses. At the state tournament there were still probably only 15-20 people who had a round in the 70's either of the two days, and maybe 12-13 that had both rounds in the 70's.

What I'm saying is, the high school competitions aren't competitive. It's the outside high school competitions, like the AJGA, where it gets competitive because you have all the golfers from all the high school divisions from a number of surrounding states all coming to play. Those are the "real" tournaments, along with the junior am qualifiers.
