New here.  I swing Titleist 802-OS irons, about 12 years old.  Love them!!  Problem is I broke/lost my 5 iron.  My 6 iron maxes out at 180 yards.  Next club up is my Calloway Big Bertha Steelhead 5 wood, which I love also!!  190-210 depending on situation.  What club do you guys recommend for filling the gap??  Replace 5 iron or get 7 wood or some type of utility club?  Thanks in advance.

If you average 180 with 6i, replace the 5i. If you average 160 with 6i the wood or hybrid.

IronFinder offers seven (7) of the Titleist 8804.OS 5-irons, starting at about $40 each. Just replace it if you won't consider new clubs.

I’d replace the 5i too. I carry 3i thru SW, so even stopping at 5i would bug me - but there are legit fans of filling the gap between irons and woods with long irons, hybrids or lofted woods.

I'm not sure what maxes out at 180 means, but if it means you average 180 then your 180 to 200 club would be a 5i.

If you mean that's the longest you've ever hit the 6i and average something lower, then I'd get a hybrid or wood for your 180-200 club.

I say replace the 5i, because your distance sounds similar to me, and Im honestly in the exact same situation haha. (Lost my 5i somewhere, havent had one for 3 months) (my 6i has gone farther than 180 quite a few times, but it falls around 180 for my average on GG)

My 5i is the last iron I carry(carried), I replaced my 3/4irons with equivalent hybrids.

I'd say replace the 5 iron rather than add another variable to the bag.  In the meantime; try playing a 3/4 5 wood to fill the gap.  I've been working on just that...a cut 5 wood from uneven lies and/or less than ideal circumstances.  Think of it as a 5 wood pitch and you will be about halfway there...literally.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."
