I already have an induction burner. They're pretty cool. We mostly use it for hot pot and frying stuff like fish outside so the whole house won't smell like fish for a week.

The pentagon shape because Instagram. I don't get that.

Love the smartphone control of the sous vide cooker I'm currently using. This looks like a natural extension of that, the remote/recipe/automatic bit.

This also looks like a natural progression from Hello Fresh/Blue Apron, after you've done the recipes, you want to move up to cooking without everything pre-prepared for you, this thing makes it easier.

Tempted to get it but will keep a lookout for reviews and vids of people using it IRL.

It has a sous vide function, that's not "just" cooking. It's exact temperature control and it's automatic so less work. When I use the Anova sous vide cooker with the smartphone app, it's very handy and the recipes are right there. I like cooking at home and these kind of devices, if they work as advertised, make things easier. The better temperature control makes for tastier food.

Microwave popcorn, ugh. I prefer to pop kernels via an old fashioned popcorn popper.

The tech is great but i just hope in the near future i dont turn the TV on to see Jamie Oliver cooking something and saying " so just pop it in the oven and press go on your Iphone" :-)

On another slightly :offtopic:thing, stuff like Alexa i can see really taking off, especially for older people. The fact that they are able to control most aspects of their home is amazing. No need for them to struggle to get up to turn the lights or heating on/off. I know a few people who have installed it for their parents.
