Day 179 - Hit short (10-15 yard) wedge shots with my 58* wedge in different combinations with ball position in front, middle and back and hands gripped to the steel, mid-grip and end-grip. Using the same length swing and focused on changes in distance, trajectory and, to the extent possible on my lawn, runout.

Day 100:

Played 18 this morning - not sure what my score was because my tracker watch kept losing gps signal and I didn’t bother noting scores on paper/phone, but I played okay, no birdies, not enough pars, too many bogeys, but not many double or worse. Short game was good, but pitted poorly. Still have a lot to work out with full swing.

Day 555: worked on my priority pieces again and added the feel of having my left shoulder go down more in the backswing to stop being too flat.

Day 49.  I played golf today.  Wilson, blue tees.  Shot an 89... despite two 7s and an 8 on par-5s, plus two other doubles.  But I also had seven fours (only one of which was on a par-3), a three (on a par-3), five good fives (six total).  I just totally lost focus when I got to my greenside shot on 13 and didn't regain until the 16th tee (finished bogey-on-#2-handicap, par, par).   Hit only 3 GIR but had some good chip shots.

Now on my to-do list is the realization a lot of my full swing practice has been, well, making full swings without having a real priority piece anymore.  So I'll make a priority to get video this week for Evolvr so I can have meaningful full swing practices again soon.

Day 15

Finally had some beautiful weather this weekend. Which unfortunately meant home/yard projects. Got a lot done (chicken coop framing, put 2 planters together, cut the grass, trimmed, new flower bed edging, etc). Even built an 8 foot tapering jig for my table saw. As I'll need that to cut the truss system for our new chicken coup.

All of the above meant there wasn't much time for golf today. But I did get in some practice with my 5 year old. Broke out some of the sci-core "almost" style golf balls. Hadn't hit them outside yet. Was pretty impressed with how well they fly. And they went a lot longer than I'd anticipated them going.

Would have been nice to do more golf today, but the little I got in was a ton of fun. And the little dude is getting a lot better. Setting up an indoor net over the winter really helped his development.

Day 50.  Morning practice this time.  Before leaving for the office, I spent ten minutes slowly hitting balls with a 7-iron.  Except this time, I had something to focus on.  I previously had issues getting too long in the backswing (see "my swing" for, albeit old, videos of a backswing that ... nevermind) and I checked positions in the backswing a few times on each.  There we go, meaningful practice, assuming I was correct about what I needed to focus on.

Day 176, April 25, 2022

Played 13 holes of golf. Knocked three birdies off the Birdie Challenge. Hit the ball well on the front nine. Got to working on Sean's swing after about 7 or 8.

Day 137 (25 Apr 22) - Played 18 at Minnesott today.  Went with a reduced number of clubs today: driver, 3wHL (17 deg), 3h (21 deg), 5, 7, 9, PW, GW, SW (all 80's Tommy Armour 845s Silver Scots), Odyssey DF992 putter.  Fewer clubs means focusing on better course management, like where I needed to be to make a solid approach or even an up and down on the longer par 4's.  It paid off as I shot a solid 84 (for me).

Day 16

Officially over the hill to being halfway through the challenge. Although I don't plan to stop at 30 days. I'd probably already be there if I knew about this thread earlier.

Weather was nice again here, so I hit some "almost" style balls in the yard (SCI-CORE brand). I really like they way they fly. Trajectory and shot shape are pretty close to the real deal. They fly a lot farther than the name brand almost ball I remember trying years ago. Hit mostly wedges, and primarily my 56 degree. Was carrying around 70 yards on average. Every once and while I'd catch a flyer and hit it more like 100, with one going almost 120. Kind of curious considering I didn't blade it.

Worked mostly on tempo and rotation with the body. Felt really good to actually hit some balls outside.

Day 101:

Did slow swings with a 9-iron from A2, focusing on palmar flexion (and not letting it go), feeling a little external rotation in trail arm, and not stalling core through impact.

    • I wanted to watch something last night so I tuned in to LIV on YouTube. Lasted 3 minutes. The production is just not enjoyable.    Switched to Ron Chopper vs Big Red round 3 and it was great. Much better Aussie golf option.

    • So no joke, last evening post work nine must have been the craziest side I've ever played: Bogey, double, double, par, birdie, birdie, birdie, double, birdie. Two gimme birdies, one 15 footer and one bonus bomb from prolly 35 feet on no. 9. Full disclosure, it's a super easy course when greens are running at an 8 with easy welcoming pins. Still, a couple of firsts there. Driver freed me up starting the fourth hole. Anyway, driver notes: 1) anti left left hand grip. 2) no structural bind on hands/grip. 3) left shoulder HAS to get up to chin with humerus completely detached from chest and shoulder socket (feel) Big game tomorrow, aiming to break 80.
