"5 Minutes Daily" Practice Challenge

Day 2:  I hit a bucket of balls this morning.  Not gonna lie, almost didn’t go since it was my first time going alone and it was a little intimidating.  I mostly hit with my driver (the last bit of balls was with my 7 iron).  The sun was in my face but I think the ones that had good contact with went the furthest yet (maybe 150 yards then a good roll?).  Once I switched to my 7, the first half of my balls were crap.  I’ve always hit my irons before my driver when practicing and done fine - does this make any difference or is it just because I’m so green?

I may not hit the ball far, but at least I find all of the pretty flowers.

Day 552, May 7, 2024

Played nine holes with @NatalieB with irons only from her tees. Didn't really finish out any holes, just hit the irons and approaches and some chips.

Erik J. Barzeski —  I knock a ball. It goes in a gopher hole. 🏌🏼‍♂️

Day 26:

Did full swing practice after work. First 15 balls were working on top of the backswing feel, and then tried to incorporate transition feel into the next 15 balls.

A's, although this will be my last season of being a fan as they leave for Las Vegas (by way of Sacramento for a few seasons). Hard to see myself rooting for the Giants, but if that's the only MLB in the Bay Area, I guess I might get on board.

Another slow session but 4 mph faster than my last session, which was my slowest ever. Going to the doctor on Friday to check on pulled neck muscle.

Day 3:  I tried to hit a bucket at the range but an 80 year old man (he told me his age, showed me his knee replacement scars, told me all about his chronic low back pain, etc) couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mansplain to me every little thing I’m doing wrong.  Dude, it’s my third frickin day.  I know I need to twist my hips more, I know I need to keep my head/chest down and not pop up, I know I need to hit through the ball and follow through further, yada yada yada.  I know.  That’s exactly what I’m trying to work on.  How about you tell me or show me how to do those things instead of telling me to watch Iron Byron videos?  Rough day.

I may not hit the ball far, but at least I find all of the pretty flowers.

Day 54. Was in a good place last week. Yesterday’s round killed my confidence.  Full swing practice trying to get back to where I was but struggled with being tired and tense. Back to basics tomorrow.

Sad tale.  Both the A's and Raiders.  IMO, cities shouldn't be building stadiums for MLB/NFL teams.  But that's the world we live in.

    • Then I am a even more convinced that all must be done to get it right. And please, I've posted more than once that the players were, are and will continue to be responsible and nothing here changes that. Why are folks continuing to remind me as if I've said otherwise? Professional golf is not a business? Sorry bossman, Imma have to think about that for a bit. And do none of you agree that this has somewhat to do about the business angle to it? Pandering to the talent. Bit more complex than it had to be but the greater integrity is intact from what I see. They have the right and the means.  Yes...Please... Yes!  Not sure why y'all think that they haven't thought about all of this, and yet they decided this had to be done. Y'all see the downside and I am seeing both sides and I can see why they did it. They can handle whatever will ensue. And god help the ass clown whose poop won't give a shit about finding home in 15 minutes. We will see what happens then.
    • A player is solely responsible for their score, and when they turn their card in, it's akin to signing a contract. Comparing it to a business and an organizational structure with several levels is a non-starter. The buck stops with the player certifying their score as correct.
    • Day 48 (19 Jun 24) - played 9 holes with son while grandson was at golf camp.
    • I guess I have a different view on things having worked in a field all my adult life where singular mistakes are run up the flag pole and correction via overreaction is the norm. Partly to guarantee a non-repeat and partly to appease an overbearing and entitled customer base. Obviously the PGAT powers to be are a bit jumpier these days with LIV weakening their spines.  I do agree that this complicates things. Typically it means more job creation somehow. Heh. So there's that.
