Day 27: 12/27/2022

Backswing in the mirror work today.
Basically I did my backswing a few times in slow motion without a club.
Then with a club across my collarbone. Then with a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe and split hands. Finally with a club.

Rinse and repeat.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 28: 12/28/2022

So I got to the indoor range today around 5AM and spent some quality time working on my priority pieces.
I took some video and used that for personal feedback to compare feels to reals.

Then I did my new favorite putting drill for speed control.

Finished up with some chipping practice and headed out of there.

A really good practice session this morning.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

Day 29: 12/29/2022

Went to the indoor range early this morning again.

Worked on my priority pieces. I felt very stiff and slow, but got good work in. I filmed my swing from both down the line and caddie view. I sent those to Yoda. I also got some nice chipping work in and then I did a putting drill. I did the drill off the putting green because I found that the area in front of the nets is a faster surface. Since nobody else was there at this time I was able to use that area for my putting practice. Here's a time lapse video of my first attempt of the day at the putting drill. I got better at it with subsequent attempts.

I do not recall you walking that fast last time we golfed.  Looks a little like an old Charlie Chaplin movie.  Is that part of the drill? 😜

Day 59, December 29, 2022

Quick practice session today, because the stupid GEARS sync thing via "Task Scheduler" didn't seem to want to run on its own for whatever reason. Worked fine at home.

Day 30 ... Woo-Who! ... : 12/30/2022

I got to the range early again this morning. 5AMish.

I started with my priority pieces. Then worked on my video taking skills. I'll review what I shot later on.

Then, I chipped to several targets for about 15 minutes. Then I worked on short pitch shots for about 15 minutes.
Next, I did Eric's speed control putting drill. I used the area in front of the nets for this drill as it is a faster surface.
Then over at the actual putting green I used the the putting mirror for about 10 minutes.

Finally, I finished with the putting ladder drill to an actual hole for about 10 - 15 minutes.

Day 44 (30 Dec 22) Spent some time working with the putter.  Did the side-by-side drill (where I set two balls beside each other) and put them at the same time.  Helps with squaring the putter - get heely and the closest ball shoots out ahead, get toey and the outer ball takes the the lead.   I like the challenge of the drill.  Also worked on pacing the putts.

Day 15, did some really slow swings to work on my PP. I felt yesterday that when speeding up, I regressed a little bit.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
