Day 60, December 30, 2022

Worked with a student on GEARS and his daughter earlier today, then got some work in while waiting for Natalie to show up so I could let her in and head out. Filmed a video, too, when I was done showing how luck plays a role in making even a 22' putt.

Day 31: 12/31/2022

Once again, I was at the indoor range early.
Started with my priority pieces. Then worked on some extra priority pieces ... kind of an old one that's come back again.

I did the @iacas putting distance control drill from 15 feet into a 6 foot target area today.
That took me a little while to get it. My score was like 20 something.

Finished up with the ladder putting drill on the practice green.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 45 (31 Dec 22) - Received a challenge from the grandson to see who could hit a hole-in-one in the backyard.  We set up about 30 paces and emptied the shag bag on the ground.  He was hitting more of a chip while I was hitting pitches.  End result  - we both had a ball to finish about 4” from the hole literally side-by-side.  Was a fun way to practice around the green style shots while hanging with grandson for the last 5 min daily challenge of 2022….

Day 16 - Nice day today, so I did some block practice hitting chip and run shots with my 9-iron in the yard. Not much run, but I could work on the strike and see where the ball landed.

Day 32: 1/1/23

Went to the indoor range again today. Worked on mostly my priority pieces.

I also did a lot of chipping and some work on pitch shots.

I didn't do any putting today. Tomorrow is probably going to have a lot of that.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 1 - Just spend 5 minutes working on gripping the club. Working on getting the club more the fingers of my left hand, as well as strengthening the right hand. Feels weird, and I need to keep cleaning this up.

Day 18, Range today because they have heated bays! I wanted to see if what I am working on in helping ball flight. I was pretty pleased. I did mostly slower swings to start but did do a few 80% swings. As long as I followed my feel, flight was a nice slight push with a little bit of curve. This was with wedge, 8 and 6 irons and driver. If I felt like I was swinging out from the top, I would pull or hook it, which didn’t happen much. The feel is  swinging down from the top and letting my right hand feel like its getting on top.

I couldn’t film because of space and it was dark and rainy.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
