Day 9:

Played 18 this morning. Overall, everything was good enough, but nothing was great today. Miss profile was different, so I need to think about if this is desirable or not.

Day 7
Played 18 today with my dad. Beautiful day. Just didn’t have a sense for the swing today. Got to do stuff better and exaggerated more. Short game is still hit or miss.

Day 209, May 28, 2023

Played six holes with a 5-iron and an 8-iron. Hit 3 or 4 shots on almost everything. Hit some really, really good ones, but I'm not yet to the point where I can hit the MASSIVE draw that starts way right.

Day 34 - Hit balls working on new setup feelings. Irons are pretty good but driver still needs a bit of work to feel normal.

Chipped and putted too, still putting really well with the older putter so going to give that a go on the course tomorrow.

Day 66: 5/28/23

Rained all day in Upstate SC so I chipped and putted indoors.

Regripped a set of Rogue Pro irons and used an air compressor. It was my first time trying this and I will always choose air over grip tape and solvent in the future! So easy to adjust grips and build up the lower hand to the right size.

Day 62: May 29

Did a couple of indoor practice putting sessions focused on 4-5 ft putts. Then went to my local course for a couple of hours of short game & putting practice. Beginning to reacquire my touch/feel for more lofted short pitches & chips, especially for shots where I have to carry over a short obstruction which would prevent a low-running chip or even using my putter.

Putting green was trying to get a consistent pace on putts. Also got my first taste of using my feet to feel the borrow on putts in a very basic AimPoint sense. Hard to explain but I can feel that a seemingly flat putt…is not flat, which adjusts my aim point.

Day 8,

Hit balls trying to get my swing to stop at A2.5 (it carries on to about A3.5). Need to find an exaggerated feel for the right elbow stuff in the downswing. It just isn't sticking like I want.

Day 67: 5/29/23

Stack Neural training session 10. Slow session despite completing Wright Balance exercises prior to training.

100 MPH training session which equates to 110 mph eSpeed. I did hit that a few times on Saturday so that is not too far off. I have definitely plateaued the past two sessions. Will see what I can do next session.

Day 10:

5 months into the year and I haven't done a much work on my grip, which is something I want to get right once and for all. Today I worked on longer thumb on the lead hand, and holding the club tighter so the grip doesn't slide into palm. Hit 30 balls just focusing on this. Start line was all over the place, but contact was good, and I think in the long run I will learn to control the face better with this grip than a looser, short-thumb grip that slides around during backswing and transition.

Day 35 - Played 18 holes in the morning, then hit a few balls and chipped and putted in the afternoon while the kiddo napped.

Ball striking was solid, made sure I committed to the new address position on every shot during the round. The hip priority piece is probably halfway there right now I'd say. It definitely is better than say a month go, but I could probably improve it another 50%. Ball striking has undoubtedly improved though so I'm just going to keep working on it.

Used the old putter too and was lights out with it. Didn't miss anything inside 6 feet and was burning edges all day from 10-20 feet. Keeping it in the bag for a while.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
