Day 86:

Played 18. Course was soaked, standing water relief on every shot, except there was nowhere to take relief without standing water. I was surprised the course was even open (forgot to cancel tee time within 24 hours and didn’t want to get dinged with a no-show charge).

Played 9-3 punch shot on every swing. Had a nice low pull fade / straight fade ball flight with this swing, which I wish I could replicate with my full swing. Putting was pointless due to water on the course, so just picked up once I was on the green.

Day 117 (24 Oct 21) - P3-P4 work with the 8i using Birdie Balls to complete the swing move focusing as well on keeping the weight forward.  Resulting ball flight bordered on a slight draw.

Day 364: Played 18 this am with the start in the rain. Had the course to myself so I tried extra shots in some spots. Played OK for the most part. Driver was better especially with the focus on grip and opening the face enough. Had some really good shots like a 179 yard 4 iron on a tough par 4 to just on the fringe. Birdied 18 too and had a nice up and down from 120 yards after a pulled drive.

Day 8 (10/25/21) - Worked on putter stroke a 80 bpm between two 2 x 4s set about an inch wider than my putter head. I find this width accommodates a slight arc, whereas I hit wood if the arc gets too big or goes offline by much.

Day 118 (25 Oct 21) - Overdid things yesterday to where my left foot (the one with the transmet amputation from the bike wreck in ‘16) was not up to weight shifts, full swings, etc.  As I am to play a new course tomorrow, took the opportunity to “practice” rolling putts on the carpet (slow greens) and the putting mat (faster greens).  Hoping the foot holds out tomorrow….

Still too wet in the yard for outdoor practice, so did backswing work and palmar flexion transition rehearsals indoors with LVP camera.

Day 9 (10/26/21) - During a break from the rain, I was able to get in practice swings with my 6 and 7 hybrids (Sub70 699 U Utility clubs which I am testing) and my wedges. Focused on setup and positions through the swing.

Day 119 (26 Oct 21) - Played a total of 27 holes on two courses.  Plenty of opportunities to mix it up in terms of club/shot selection.  Made the most to play my game and not get competitive with my playing partners.  Driver behaved, irons behaved, metal woods behaved, putter almost did….lol!

It’s funny that Cali and New England get a bomb cyclone at the same time!

Yeah, I was dumb enough (or passionate enough) to play golf in the heaviest part of the storm. Mostly finished passing through my area yesterday afternoon, but I think we got around 10 inches of rain, so everything is soaked.

Day 120 (27 Oct 21) - Worked on the pre-shot waggle a today (yes, I am reading Hogan's Five Lessons again).  One thing that caught my attention was that he was adamant about the shoulders remaining still while "waggling".  (Sorry that just sounds weird)  Made me think about my own routine and what do I really do.  Worked on the mechanics of what he described - how the wrists should move, how the upper arms remain tight to the chest and the shoulders still.  After practicing it for a bit, took to hitting some whiffle and foam balls in the backyard.

Day 89:

Yard was dry enough for outdoor practice. Hit some balls with full swing, didn't really focus on a particular element of the swing, I just wanted to get some information/observations to take to my lesson tomorrow. Took note of start line, launch angle, and also some feel related things like balance, recentering, hip/shoulder turn.

Mostly starting the ball straight or a bit right, which works okay with my normal ball flight (draw). Launch is a bit high, I suspect I need to continue working on clubface control, but I will get more info on this from lesson. Still suffer from a periodic low pull (maybe 1 out of every 5-7 shots), which I know based on my previous experience, is an unplayable pull-hook. If I could somehow hit the same pull with a slightly open clubface, maybe it would be workable ball flight, but right now, it's really costly on the course, and the main thing I want to work out tomorrow.

Day 367: cold and windy round today. I had a 145 yard drive and a 257 yard drive on adjacent holes! 😜 I guess the first one got up into the wind! On 6 of the 18 holes, I had to wait for the groundskeepers because they were blowing debris off the greens from the Nor’Easter. Solo round so no handicap posting.

Day 90:

Lesson this morning. Staying true to my pattern, everything that has been going wrong with the downswing is related to setup and backswing issues. Got some good drills, which don't even need a ball, so I have no excuse for not improving by the next lesson.
