Based on your pictures, I'm thinking you should pull out the credit card and at least go back for the opening round Thursday.

Tempting, but it is a real pain in the butt to get there. Shuttle bus took an hour to cover 13 miles. Multi days, you have to sleep overnight.  No wonder reporters can be grumpy.

Sounds like my experience at Chambers Bay.  I went on Saturday and it was packed.  They had set up some obscure bus routes through JBLM (Ft. Lewis) to avoid I-5 and other main arterials.  This really helped, but my bus ride was still about 35 minutes.  Oh well, you don't do it often, so just exhale, relax and go with it.

I still don't understand why the Open is always a logistical nightmare. Plenty of great courses that can handle the tournament elsewere. Then again it is the USGA so it does make some sense.

Hope they redeem themselves there.

If you think about where courses are usually located, they were set up for their topography and put in areas where their members or the public could get access to play it. It is rare that they had intentions to hold tournaments where 100,000 people would attend.

Some courses like TPC Boston in Norton, MA are lucky that there is a concert venue next to it with ample parking. But most of the gem courses that you would want for the US Open are either older courses or are in suburban areas not set up for massive traffic.

    • Hi @RetiredOldMan!  I am glad to see you are still playing and having good scores.  I hope that when I am 79, I am not only able to play, but still able to produce as good scores as you have been doing.   I look forward to hearing more of your success and your opinion of the senior flex shafts.
    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.
