Question for those who have experience using these. Getting a little RSI using a mouse (even alternating between both hands) and looking into getting a touchpad to alleviate wrist and shoulder strain. Main usage is for IDEs. I like the 2, it's got a bigger surface, force touch. Are there other models I'm missing? Don't see any Wirecutter entries for best wireless touchpads.

Because they'd all be Apple touchpads, as always. Apple's always had better touchpad type surfaces than those found on PC laptops.

I use a trackpad for my desktop, even, and I was a HARD CORE mouse user for years. I had programmable Logitechs, etc. The increase in gestures for macOS trackpads has helped.

So superior. Even the best PC touchpads could barely keep up. One of the reasons I switched long ago.

I didn't like the trackpad until I cranked the sensitivity way up.  I should've remembered this with all my years of doing so with a mouse playing Half-Life lol.  For some reason it didn't dawn on me with my first Macbook to do so.  Love the trackpad now.

Yeah, I was lukewarm on the trackpad at first then found myself using it over the mouse without even thinking about it.

When I use my MacBook Pro at home I almost exclusively use the built-in trackpad. On my PC at work I have an Evoluent mouse that I really like. They call it a vertical mouse - the buttons are on the right side so your arm sits more naturally.

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't get the Evoluent, but bought a more entry level vertical mouse to see what it's like.

Bought the Magic Trackpad 2 - so far, it's working out well, helping to alleviate the strain. Should have gotten one earlier.

After using it for a bit, it's an improvement over "horizontal" mouses. Thanks for the suggestion! I made the mistake of buying the wrong handed mouse though, as I prefer using a mouse lefty, obviously vertical mouses are L/R handed dependent.

So with both attached, V mouse and Trackpad and switching between each, body is complaining less.

One day there will be a read my mind "mouse". Kind of like in Star Trek where Scottie takes the mouse and says, "Computer!".

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
