I've been looking to get a hybrid. I just started golfing in the last year and dont need or want a break the bank club. Was on global golf and looking at the Taylormade Aero Burner, Taylormade M2 H3(used but in very good condition), and the Ping G25. Anybody have any opinions on these or recommend any other clubs?

I currently use the Aeroburner and while I love it, it is not very forgiving. To get the proper launch and spin you really can’t miss the sweet spot.

The g25 is very forgiving, as with most Ping clubs. M2 is alright but I wouldn’t recommend it because of the feel being a bit odd.

if you are willing to fork out about $90-100 I would recommend the Callaway XR hybrid. All of their woods are very forgiving and the hybrid is no different. i currently use the 4 wood and Nothing beats the forgiveness + distance.

Hopefully this helps narrow down your choices a bit. Of course, if you have a chance i suggest going somewhere like Gofl Mart to demo clubs.

Go to Callaway PreOwned and look at the Big Bertha and Big Bertha OS - forgiving head, good feel, good distance.

Ping G400 Max 9/TPT Shaft, TEE EX10 Beta 4, 5 wd, PXG 22 HY, Mizuno JPX919F 5-GW, TItleist SM7 Raw 55-09, 59-11, Bettinardi BB39

Agree. He may have to try Ebay since he’s left handed. But I agree with this and Callaway XR and Ping G25, G30 and G all being forgiving and great feel thru the turf.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a Callaway XR OS 4H in very good condition from global golf. 22 degree loft, regular flex shaft. Lol I know I cant do any worse than what I do with my 3 and 4 irons so I imagine I will be pretty happy😆

I think you made a good choice for a first hybrid.

You’ll definitely like that choice, it’s just so forgiving and easy to hit while being long at the same time.

Btw, you might even want to consider dropping the 3 iron depending on your swing speed/how well you hit it...

I think I am going to drop the 3 iron. My swing speed is slow for me but right now I'm more concerned about consistently making good contact and hitting the ball straight. I've worked my way out of having a terrible slice every single shot to only having one every 5 or 6 swings so I'm happy with that.

Yeah that’s what I did as well. I swing pretty fast (110 mph driver) but still don’t play a 3 iron just because I hit my 3 hybrid just a tiny bit more consistently. Main reason to have it is for consistent launch and workability.

Good job on your swing, that’s pretty damn good lol.

    • @Hardspoon and I will have to discuss it over for the next one. 😛    Just to give a short review of the courses.  NorthStar is a pretty good course. The condition is good. There was a couple of meh holes (#16 and #18 specifically). Nothing really stood out as amazing. Yea, probably like a 6/10.  Eaglesticks, I think from tee to green is really interesting. Some of the greens, more so pin positions were a bit crazy. Like, if you slightly missed you would have a putt that could not stop with in 15-Ft of the hole. Maybe a 5.5/10 something around there.  The Virtues, still good as ever. In really good condition. Being it is in a similar part of the state as Eaglesticks, it shares the same hilly terrain. Eaglesticks is more compact, so it might have more extreme slopes. While the Virtues is on a larger property and was more selective in where the holes were built. The green complexes at The Virtues seemed fairer than Eaglesticks. Still, I think a very good public course that can challenge you to hit a good tee shot. The approach shots are interesting. I still think I would recommend people make the trip to play if they haven't done so. Probably a 7/10.
