Much has been addressed relative to how much grip pressure should be applied in  your swing by others much more qualified than me. opinions vary, and all is subjective.

One thing that helps me is not to be too  much concerned about how much or little pressure is used, but  more in terms of firmness and ability to keep the grip from rotating or moving in your grasp. I have found that if I just try to ensure that the butt of the grip does not separate from the heel pad and that I can feel the connectivity does a lot to improve consistency and ergo results.  It matters little how much pressure i.e. I can grasp firmly or not so firmly with the variances owing to the type of shot, finesse, or "touch" required.  If the butt of the grip separates from  the heel pad, the club in  turn may rotate and be out of position, opening or closing the face from what your attention was. OTOH, there are some who are very good at finesse shots using "fingers" control, but for full swings, heel pad connection  seems better for me.

I’m glad you’ve had some success with whatever feel you experienced. Truly I am. But I must caution you with the term ‘Revelation.’ The golf gods don’t fancy that word and will no doubt deliver some sort of punishment for using it. They operate much like the eye of Sauroman  from Lord of the Rings and pick up on its use. I wish you all the best.

Lol...so true. But to your point. I have an awful ‘habit’ of my club separating from my left thumb pad on my bs. (I’m a leftie.) It’s quite maddening. I was doing it for a long time I believe and didn’t even know it. I don’t do it on practice swings. As soon as I go to hit a ball it happens. I’ve tried every change out there to fix it. It’s almost become a trigger for me and if I focus on keeping my left hand on the club it messes me all up. I’ve learned to hit quite well with it as I’m working on getting my bs in a more workable position ( I’m way too flat.) I’ve had to just ignore it for now as it just seems to happen automatically.

@Vinsk, that is a fairly common deal in various forms of "re-gripping" during the d/s. Mine is a bit different in that I noticed it and could actually feel the separation. It took a bit of mental re-mapping to fix. Now, wait for the next Ill-fitted trait to manifest at the discretion of the powers that be.

I'm the other side of the coin when it comes to grip pressure. I'm a firm believer one can focus on too many things, when it comes to the golf swing. The grip pressure on the the club is one of those things.

I always figured as long as the club didn't fly out of my hands, I had the correct grip pressure, that allowed for the cocking, and uncococking of the wrists during the full swing.

What ever that grip pressure was in my full swing, carried over to those, not so full swings.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
