Although I am satisfied with my Tour Edge set up, I can't help admiring the Titleist 915 Driver and fairway woods I saw when last playing. They appear to have a low profile and quality look. Realizing that one cannot simply "buy" a better game and it would be foolish to change at this juncture; they sure look as if they would inspire confidence.

How about the 917s? They're purdy also...

Yes, they are. I usually buy used however. Also not all that impressed with heel/toe weight technology. Sure-fit hosel is nice, besides hard to find bonded hosels any more. One thing I do like about the 917's is 440cc heads.Another thing I found was that Titleist also offers the sure-fit on their fairway woods.

I have the Titleist 915 driver, 3 wood and hybrid. 100% happy with them, performance and looks. Before them i had clubs from 2000 so the improvement was evident.
For me all premium clubs are just about the same, if they get fitted for you. After that it´s just a matter of preference of a brand or looks of a certain club.

I believe that both the 915 and 917 D3's were 440cc, where both the D2's were 460cc.

Yep, I had to look for my self and found that to be the case. fwiw, I happened to find a 915D3 at Global Golf with the flex I want and the price is not prohibitive (for me). It is described as "value condition which is alright for ,me as I have ordered from Global Golf before. The sure fit hosel system is also easier to use with more options than my current driver. I guess I am a club ho and more often than not, attracted to the next "shiny" object.

well, just noticed that I only "thought" I was ordering the Titleist 915 D3 driver, when in actuality it was the 913 D3. Oh well, both look to be good. Main changes are the addition of the recoil channel and some face engineering. I think I like the profile of the older model a little better. I read both Sand Txrap reviews , one by Eric, the other by Scott. Both very informative.

For better or worse, not shabby for $119. Only cosmetic wear are a few abrasions on face. No crown marks, grip lis mint as is the head cover. It came set at D4 which is +.75 loft, standard lie. (Club static loft is 10.5)IMG_20180908_124015232.thumb.jpg.9e7010fd36245bc0ef0a4e8c8e641287.jpg

I might add that for those who happen to own Tour Edge, the wrench will also fit Titleist. I ordered the Titleist wrench anyway, but now I have two. Whether or not they both have the same torque is unknown.

NIce.

I have the 915 D2 and love it.  My next golf purchase (which won't happen anytime soon) is going to be a putter and wedges but when it's time to upgrade my 3W, good to know that Global Golf has quality items.  Do they have a return policy that's generous?

Although I have never availed myself of it, they do have a return policy.  It is outlined on their web site. I think you have to pay for return shipping. Their rating system goes from "value" to "near new" or something like that.

OK..first impressions (from Range)

It did not take long for me to dial in hosel settings.

I first adjusted for loft using the sure fit chart going from A1 to the top A4. At the highest loft setting loft was higher but inconsistent and felt off. Backed the loft down to D4. This setting felt a lot better, Ball flight showed moderate fade bias, but still in fairway. I then went with .75 upright (C3). Final results equate to 11.25 deg dynamic loft +.75 upright lie.

The head for the D3 is cut for a 10.5 deg static loft.

Now for distance. Using range balls with limited distance, I am not sure of how much that would be, I am guessing 20% less.  I was hitting out to 170 yard marker. mostly straight with baby draw at times. Given, I am not a long hitter and have lost about 40 yards throughout the bag in the last 18 months, I am guessing that I can hit 200 yards with a good golf ball. This is a definite improvement over where I have been with seldom going over 180. Bear in mind, I am 76 years of age, but in good health.

Dispersion was good. ( 913 D3) is advertised as a mid trajectory flight and workability.

Granted this was just one session and by no means conclusive, but overall; I am pleased.

I got a 913F 3 wood used for $40. One of the best equipment purchases I’ve ever made. Used equipment is great. Make sure there’s plenty of pictures to judge it on and you can get great stuff for peanuts
