Hi folks

Demo’d a few scotty camerons in store and picked out the one i liked ‘Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2 Notchback 2016’ so obviously never purchased it in store (looked for a bargain on ebay) and found a brand new one on ebay. Now the guy claims he sells stock for golf reps colf clubs etc but now i have my doubts. Putter arrived and it was in the titleist bag and everything and the quality and finish on the putter is fantastic so i had no reason to doubt it was real until..... i changed the weights in the bottom and you can see from the photos attached there is some kind of hole in the bottom of the putter where the weights go (couple of mm deep) ? 😣 has anybody ever seen this? I’m thinking its fake now because scotty are known for a top quality finish. Uploaded some other pictures too could i get your fine folk’s opinions please?

I’m covered under ebay money back guarentee so thats not an issue its just if to keep it or not

Appreciate it

Looks legit. That hole looks like it's where they bored through for the shaft.

That being said, I've never owned a Scotty Cameron so my 2 cents might be worth less than that 😉

I don’t think it’s a fake it just looks like a defect. I had that putter too and I didn’t have that hole in the weight port. But otherwise looks just like the one I had. Doesn’t look like it will affect the putter’s performance.

Maybe it was a bit heavy and they had to remove a few grams of weight?

    • Day 66: Played 18! Wasn't really keeping track of score, but guessing in the low 80s. Driving okay, iron play up and down, lagging putting really bad. Overall, it was good to get out and play.
    • Day 41 - 2026-01-30 More backswing and grip work on the mat / net. Also some mirror time focused on trail weight.
    • Day 12 (30 Jan 26) -  Had hoped the men’s group would be playing, but the cold temps and delayed opening kept them at bay. Spent some time on the range working on loading the trail foot on the backswing (focusing on loading the inner portion of the foot and collapsing the knee slightly toward the ball). Learned too much really brought on a left pull.  Easing back a bit, really helped compressing the ball and overall accuracy.  Took it to the course for a practice round, focusing on this small change.  Saw better dispersion across the bag….guess this will be part of the mirror work drills as snowpacolypse 2 hits eastern NC.
    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
