You remember when Spieth was found in violation of the minimum tournament commitment when he failed to make the field for the Tour Chamionship at Eastlake. There was a possibility that he might be fined.

I don't remember hearing how all that shook out, but that's not what I'm interested in here. If memory serves, I believe that Tiger played in fewer tournaments than Spieth last season. So what I want to know is, did Tiger have an exemption from the PGA Tour due to returning from injury/surgery? If so, will he be expected to honor the 25 tournament commitment this season?

Tiger played in the Valspar, which he'd never played in before.

The PGA Tour is in the second year of a policy that requires players to compete in a minimum of 25 events if they fail to add an event to their schedule that they have not played in the previous four years.

Actually, a bunch of Tiger's tournaments probably counted as "new" within the last four years.

Since Tiger has way more than 20 wins, which gives him a lifetime tour membership, does that give him the right to play in as many or as few tournaments as he likes?

Probably also that.

It´s Tiger. If no one is talking about this it´s because he have this covered up. Surly with Iacas and sandy arguments.

OK. The TV commentators didn't explain it that way. They made it sound like a straight 25 tourney commitment. Thanks for the info. I honestly don't know where the question came from. It just popped into my head fully formed while having my morning coffee the other day.
