Websites for Vintage Golf Clubs?

 Hi folks anyone know of a website or resource that lists/talks about/reviews old clubs? 

I'm starting to build up quite a collection of 1970 onwards clubs (mainly found out the back of charity shops about to be thrown away a😕) and be nice to know a little about them. 

I've googled without much luck finding any such sites

I haven't seen many sites specifically about vintage clubs. Usually forums, like this one, have sections on clubs. You could try searching our section.

Yes, I think there would be a market for this. I often practice with clubs from the 70's and learning how to remove pins (this took me a week of trial and error), hosel size differences, many things are a guess and a resource would have been wonderful.

Hi, This makes me feel old, I was an assistant Club Pro through the mid 70's and the clubs you are talking about are modern to me. However I digress, Michael, there are a number of books published that refer to refurbishing this  and indeed earlier generations of clubs. Search 'Clubmaking' as this brings up a good selection. Well regarded refurbishers are well represented in these volumes. Excellent pictorials and instructions. One of the best is 'Golf Clubmaking and repair' by Carl Paul.  A large book with short easy sections with photos of most if not all repairs and refurbishments you might need. I recommend it.

At the time I was apprenticed, the modern Laminated woods were all the fashion and Persimmon heads being phased out, unfortunately I was trained on the latter and now, if anyone can help me, I am looking to establish how the woods of the early part of the 20th century were finished in the pre-polyurethane era. What materials were being used for colouring/ finishing etc.

Check out The Society of Hickory Golfers, which centers around golf in the 1930's or so. Was looking on there today (after I picked up an old hickory shafted iron at Play It Again Sports for $1) and was some interesting information at least on their FB page. Hope this helps.

Hi there - I have a question in regards to a golf club in my uncle’s collection! 
 

It is a HIRO HONMA Vintage Persimmon Antique “Cleek" LB280, RH, Number 5, Persimmon Wood, with a T800 BORON M43 Shaft, R-1, and the Serial Number is 26490. I believe it was made in Japan.

Was wondering if anyone knows more about this club, as I haven’t found this exact one anywhere on the internet, and if so, does anyone know how much the estimated value might be?

I saw a LB300 on ebay for $400. As always, it depends on the condition.
