Here is my lame imitation. Next time I'll do the back arching and club waving thing. Post your imitation here! 😜

I wish I had seen this before I went to the gym. I would have made one!

Thanks @nevets88. It's good to have some fun during these cranky times.

Get off of my lawn~!    Sorry, I thought I was reformed...

I enjoyed seeing the videos and believe he will bring viewers to TV just to see something different.

His swing is totally standard until the finish. He has a Kenny Perry-esque shoulder-turn, then the downswing is straight up text book until deep into the follow-through when for some stupid reason he thinks it's funny to go insane with the drama.

Honestly, I think he's kind of a jackass.

Your impressions are hilarious though, Steve. But seriously, don't hurt yourself  :-D

Edit: I guess he doesn't straighten his trail leg/turn his hips enough on the backswing, but otherwise, he looks pretty much like every tour player until the ridiculous finish.

I don't really know much of his origin story, got a little ratholed into imitating the swing, how he keeps that trail leg so behind him is hard, those positions are really contortionist, but yeah, it is a bit much. Pretty sure it'll be like, enough... after awhile.

He did get himself a sponsor's exemption to a PGA Tour event, so it's definitely raising his notoriety. Otherwise he'd just be another faceless tour pro ranked between 150 and 500 in the world.

It might be interesting to know how his swing came to be that way over time, what it looked like when he first started, etc. I assume he's self taught, unless like Groucho Marx is his swing coach or something.

Have you seen Matthew Wolff's swing?

Yes. Not as unusual as people make it out to be.

It's totally unusual.  Unless you're a Miller Barber fan, that is.

Nah. Across to under. See that all the time. Good way to get decent but not great players to hit draws.

Late roll lets him hit cuts.

I promise you this. You don't see his swing on tour -- maybe Furyk (kind of).  I mean, if it weren't so unusual, why would they be talking about it?  Anyway, it works very well for him.  He hit a 350 yard drive down the fairway today.

I didn’t say on Tour. A guy I taught yesterday had this move. 🙂

I was talking about Tour players.  So many ways to swing a club, though, that's for sure.  As a matter of fact, there's 6,000,000,000,000 (six trillion) ways to swing a club -- according to some mathematician writing in Golf Digest many years ago.  If you consider where each body part can be at any given time and their relationship to one another and the various angles you can use, etc. etc. etc., then that number is really is quite believable, when you home in on the permutations and combinations.

    • No rain while I was out (9am to 11:30am). Fairly pleasant for a late November day in the Mitten.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-25 Did the BAD Challenge and hit a bunch more other little shots. This was one of the closer shots.
    • 70 today. The number looks good but, the course is a par 67 (5,110 yards, 64.3/115.). While the 70 took quite a few good shots to achieve, I am not counting that as shooting my age.
    • Played our town’s executive course this morning. Everything is closing but for now Huron Hills remains open. #13 is shaped like an upside down backwards L (dogleg left). Only 231 yard par 4. Dogleg has a tree guarding the corner and a sand bunker guards the green for those cutting the dogleg. Tiny green. About 10 years ago or more I would try to cut the dogleg. The hole is so short that even if one tangled with the tree or was bunkered, par was likely and birdie was still on the table. Now in my 70’s, I just hit it straight and try to wedge it close for birdie. Today I screwed up and pulled my drive. I wandered around a bit when my ball was not in the bunker. Finally located it on the approach to the green. Almost chipped in and tapped in the 2 inches for birdie. Best unintentional shot of the week. 😲
