I hope this is the approach I would have taken. Walk in with a dollar bill in hand, say I prefer their sauce and ask to buy a couple. They’ll probably reach under the counter and grab a couple and say “here ya go” and not ring it up. Then I put the dollar (or three) in whatever donation jar is on the counter. “Thanks.”

Etiquette Violations (and Other Things) That Bug You
Missouri Swede replied to iacas's topic in Golf Talk
One guy drove his cart across his fairway, through the rough between our fairways, across my fairway, across my cart path and picked up my ball from the rough by my cart path (as I was walking toward the ball). I just don't get it. Less likely. Didn't prevent the above. -
7.1 says a player is responsible for finding their ball in play after each stroke. But how much effort goes into that is up for discussion. Perhaps more to the point of your situation at the time. Having found the ball, choose to take relief from an unplayable lie. You can’t play your provisional ball, but you can go back to the tee and hit another tee shot (stroke and distance option). Hopefully it’s as good as your provisional ball was.

No, not the blimp. The fixed wing aircraft. Different sounds. Every once in a while you can see it/ them on the broadcast towing a banner. And yeah, I find them loud IRL too.
-
Anybody else as annoyed with the droning aircraft noise as I am? I know it was there earlier today , but it sure seems a lot more intrusive now. I’m about to hit the mute button. But then I might miss all of the insightful comments that Azinger has. (Like how Sergio’s popularity has fallen over the last two years; I disagree — you have to have it to lose it.)

I keep thinking he’s a hotel chain or financial consulting firm.

If you're Phil, do you want a pissed-off PIF? I believe he said something like "these are some scary mf-ers to get involved with."

Yeah, but I didn't know if I needed to adjust anything in entering my rounds, like add 1 to my score to make it equivalent to a par 72 course.

I entered my rounds from the last month or so. My course is par 71--does that change things?

Hole #15. 2/18.

Finally birdied one. Riding a cart instead of walking, but I'll still count it. Hole #6. 1/18.

Is There Any Non-Anecdotal AimPoint Data?
Missouri Swede replied to jshots's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Yeah, I agree that it's not pleasant. I can't change how you "feel" about AimPoint, but just a couple points: 1. Maybe the instruction for AimPoint Express has changed since I took the course, but what Keegan did is not what I was instructed to do for a short putt. For a short putt, reading twice along the line between the ball and the hole and then repeating it with two additional readings on the reverse line was not in the curriculum. 2. A slow golfer can make anything slow. -
It gets paid for somewhere. I figure most pros aren't paying for their balls, so the money doesn't come from there. Are the USGA/R&A giving money to the manufacturers to offset the costs so it doesn't filter down to recreational golfer? But I figure Titleist, Bridgestone, Callaway, etc., probably do so much R&D, they probably already have a good idea what they'll do. "Yep, prototypes G217039 and G217043 that we played with two years ago will fit the bill." If so, then I suppose it's mainly just manufacturing cost. One other thought occurs to me: "We got you these balls for your birthday--we even got you the special ones that the pros use!"
-
Probably better to ask it the other way around: Are there any currently conforming golf balls that also conform to the proposed model local rule? I'm assuming the answer is no, since those would be placing the player at a disadvantage.

So “any other person … is not the player’s caddie unless they are”: a. named as such by the player —OR— b. also carries, transports or handles the player’s clubs. So fulfilling (b) makes a person a caddie, even if (a) isn’t done by the player.

It’s a marketing strategy for the golf club manufacturers. “Don’t worry, honey, I got a great deal on this new driver. Cost me less than two boxes of golf balls.”
