Hoping for a good round from Rory and would love to see a Spieth meltdown. Right now no one in golf irritates me as much as Spieth, dont really know why, just seems kind of fake

Remember that net profit margins are not proportionate to gross margins as sales increase and price drops. For example, consider a company selling a driver for $200 and nett profit is $50. Now if they sell the same driver for $400, instead of $200, nett profit increases to $250. So by doubling the price, they have actually increased nett profit by 500%. Even then if they are sellinghalf the drivers of what they did before the prce increase, they are still making way way more that with the lower price. Simplified example but something along those lines

I know opinions differ on this but I wouldn't go close to any MP iron if I were you. Get a set of JPX EZs or similar until you drop 10 shots off your game and shoot in the low 80s at least. Hitting decent long irons is where you will start dropping shots and this is where easier to hit clubs shine. I also find that it is much more rewarding playing good golf with shovels than players irons. To me there is something very cool about golfers who can really play and have forgiving irons.

I sure hope it never comes to team events where teams consist of ladies and men mixed. Mixed doubles in tennis is probably the worst sport ever invented after all the race car rubbish.

Very very few courses have these beverage carts, and when they do it's mostly hobo types in overalls and only when it's real hot outside. We have the "halfway house" concept here - you play 9, then you have to stop and rest and eat and drink your drinks - that's how it works at all courses here. So I guess there is not much need for these carts. I can just imagine though that they must be pretty thick skinned

Often see mention of cart girls. For those of us ufamiliar with the concept can someone please explain a bit more? What is it that they do? Are they all hawt? Etc ...

suppose the company who builds and provides the stands needs their capital to work for them and make money from other places that need stands during the year, too.

He really wasn't dumping on their accomplishments from what I can read This thread was clearly about the lenght that the par 4 played to. Therefore, even if you're not an LPGA fan, this would still be an interesting thread and would warrant a read. I am not a fan of Spieth, think he is a bit full of himself. So even though I am not a fan, if there is a thread "Jordan Spieth is so humble" , I would very much like to read it,even though I'm not a fan.

I think the tournament purse is only $1m, which probably means the winner will only get around $300k. It used to have a real big purse when it was part of the European Tour for a while, with strong fields, but now it's just a Japan Tour event. Either way it's an awesome part of the world, a real experience,with beautiful sights, beautiful people and great food. Can't really question anyone who wants to experience what else there is to offer outised of his native country.

Awesome hat. In my opinion there are few things worse than a grown up with a baseball cap, looks ridiculous. These hats are very light, cool and comfortable.

I think Rory could well destroy the field this week. He loves it there.

Music? As in playing music on the course? Never seen that - how do they play their music?

I would use some of it to build the most beautiful golf course ever. It would be 5 times prettier than Augusta. I would hold a tournament there every year that is on neither of the major tours. Field of 200 hand selected golfers would get an invitation every year, a mix of women, men, amateurs, etc. The course would be short - 5600 yards for my tournament, par 72, but would require precision ball striking and masterful short game skills. Men and women will have a chance to win. The prize pot would be $20million with $4million going to the winner. Since many holes will be very short, I will have amphitheatre style stands everywhere. My course would be located in a beautfil mountaineous valley, something like this:
