  1. I'm 62 and I carry my bag. I use to push and still have 2 push carts. However in the winter time its easier to carry than to ride, cuz its usually cart path only. With push carts the wheels can bog down in the wet fairways and you can't always put it by your ball. It aggravates me when I go over to the ball and realize that I have the wrong club for the shot, so I ended up doing what my friend calls a "oh well shot", which is, "I don't have the correct club for this shot, but oh well".
  2. I have a 9* MacGregor NVG2 with a Stultz stiff shaft and a Nike VR 420 cc with a PX 6.0 shaft. As for hitting them straight, it depends on the day. Some days I can't do anything wrong and others I resort to my 3w.
  3. I use my 3w when fairway bunkers are reachable with my driver, or on tight holes where accuracy is more important than distance and when I'm not hitting my driver well. My 3w is 12.5* and good for 240-250 off of the tee and 220-245 off of the deck depending if I chock down or not.
  4. Yup, I've done that, but have since decided that the pw from the iron set is better than an after market pw for me. So I perfer the pw from the iron set. I will also use the same make of shaft for my pw and irons. IMO I don't think you will see much, if any difference. PW's go from 45-50* most common loft is 48* from what I've seen. The 50* pw's are from pre 90's iron sets.
  5. I thought it was 55-75 grams depending. I think 65 grams is about average weight for graphite driver shafts.
  6. Sounds like you handled it pretty well to me. I have to agree that the younger generations are very poor at expressing themselves is a educated way and the explitives are very excessive now. I get caught up in it once in awhile myself, but am able to correct myself. Also, if they are in the shape I see lots of those young guys they would probably hit the wall if they had to to anything physical for more than 2 minutes.
  7. LOL, they feel like real big numbers after I get thru changing the oil in my car. Just not as flexable as when I was in my 20's thru about 52. When I get up off of the ground now its a 3 part move, whereas it used to be one subtle movement. But I still have a damn good golf swing!
  8. We will see. At this point they are look'n pretty darn good and I expect them to get a bowl bid. They would have done better last year but they were riddled with injuries.
  9. Thats what I do also. I've found it to be a good idea if there are any questions as to score at the end of the round.
  10. I'd practice your short game and putting. possibly practice from 100-125 yds and in. Just turned 62 myself; can't afford to retire until I can at least get medicare, which will be 65. Getting old isn't for wussies.
  11. ] If found my 3/4 swing to almost as far as my full swing and usually more accurate. It is a very good idea to learn the 3/4 swing b/c it is the basis for the swing. When I am having a hard time controling my ball I'll go back to a 3/4 swing.
  12. Probably, but why would I want to beat myself up that bad? Besides, if I don't get my golf fix I get pretty cranky.
  13. You certainly have much more experience than I, so I stand corrected. I completely agree with what you posted about OEM's.
  14. I too am from the ilk that likes all their wedge shaft, pw, sw & lw, all the same length.
  15. When I'm not play'n well I'm "floging", which of course is golfing spelled backwards.
  16. Pretty much most of the stuff I've read suggests that taller ppl will have a higher trajectory and it was thought that it was b/c of a steeper angle of attack on the ball. I know I have a higher trajectory than most and I'm 6'3" and I don't cast. I couldn't agree more about getting fitted, especially for lie angle. I've done the Mizuno shaft optimizer and none of the read outd suggested PX shafts for me. However that is just a good place to start and isn't written in stone. I pretty much go by feel and of all the shafts I've tried I like the feel of PX non flighted 5.5 the best and get good distances with them, so thats what I currently play. I do most of the work on my clubs myself, so changing out iron shafts isn't that big of a deal to me and I do tinker a lot.
  17. I demo'd the 420 cc, 8.5* driver with a PX 6.0 shaft and all I can say is WOW. I really liked that combination. It was long and accurate for me. I've also demo'd the 13* 3 fw with a stiff Voodoo shaft. Not as easy to hit as my MacGregor NVG 12.5* 3 fw, but still pretty damn good; I'd buy one. IMO, its not a club for a high to middle hc player.
  18. I used to be very into hunting. After I got out of the service I wasn't into killing but still really enjoy the stalking. So I took up fly fishing.
  19. If you are 5'9" or taller you have steeper angle of attack to the ball and subsequently will get a higher ball trajectory. I've been very happy with PX shafts myself.
  20. Yes, that happens to me, but the iron I use for that is a 1 iron which requires a pretty flawless swing. Another great training aid in that area is the tour striker.
  21. At this point I don't see any college teams that can match up with the Ducks well. Being a U of U alumni it was all I could do to say that.
  22. Depends on the company. If its Maltby, Wishom (sp?), Alpha, KZG, SMT. there are more good componet companies, but those are the ones that come to mind frist. The aforementioned companies have excellent products.
  23. I couldn't stop laugh'n when I saw 3 teams west of the rockies in the top 5 of the BCS. I bet it was all they could do to say that. They actually have to FINALLY admit that there are very good teams here in the west. Ha, ha, ha.
  24. Brian reminds me of the Phil McGlino (sp?) of Big Break; what a dweeb! But as far as the worst I think its a toss up between him and the big guy with way too much atittude who I believe now has 2 strikes, I think his name is Dave. A-rod isn't far behind.
  25. LOL, no I'm not the first one of my kind, but indeed there aren't many of us--that have never been married. To quote Alfred E Neuman, "Marriage is a fine institution, if you like institutions".
