  1. Take a ball, and toss it underhand to someone. I bet the distance is spot on. So, you do have feel. Distance is judged with your eyes, and some days your eyes get off a little. If I notice I'm leaving putts a little short, I start looking at the back of the hole or a little past when lining up my putt. If I have a very fast downhill putt, I look short of the hole. This helps my eyes adjust to the speed of the greens.
  2. If you are interested in trying to swing more like Moe Norman, don't go to Natural Golf. They do not teach Moe's swing any more. Check out Todd and Tim Graves from the Graves Golf Academy. I think they have several web pages (Swinglikemoe.com, moenorman.org) Moe Norman's swing different from a traditional swing because he addressed the ball with the club on the same plane as impact. Thus, the single plane swing. It's not that it is easier, but I think it is the most efficient and the easiest to repeat. There are fewer moving parts and very little wasted movement. However, what makes the swing hard to master is it is a completely different feeling than the swing you have used for many years. It's very difficult to change your swing drastically. It is a good method to hit a golf ball. I use it and have had very good success, but it too me a while to learn the right feelings and movements. Good luck.
  3. when I actually go to the range to practice (I normally don't have time and I'd rather play), I don't think about any part of my swing until I have hit at least 20 balls. The first 5 are swinging without any regard to anything what so ever. The next five are with a little purpose, but I don't care what happens. The next ten are just about rhythm and balance and getting a feel for what my swing is doing that day. OK, 20 balls in and I'm ready to go. Now I start to work on what I need to. When I play and don't warm up on the range, I know it takes me at least 3 or 4 holes to warm us, so I take more club, swing easy and don't care if things don't go just right.
  4. There are so medications on that list that it is not difficult to mess up and take something you should not have.... especially golfers that do not have trainers and people to help keep them from unknowingly taking something they should not. Just this last year when signing up for the US Open qualifier, I was taking some medication for small staff infection that would not heal. I talked to the Dr. and was told the medications was a type of steroid. I checked the list, and the medication was not on the list, but it could have been very easily. And if it were on the list, even though I was only using a very small amount, I might have failed a drug test. Was I trying to cheat, of course not. Just saying.. honest mistakes do happen. Lets wait and see what really happened.
  5. The only thing I am aware of is I take one last breath before I address the ball. I don't want to know about anything else because if I'm thinking about my breathing, I'm not thinking about the target. Your brain can only really think about one thing a time, so I don't want lose focus over something that does not really matter in the swing.
  6. In match play, any shot may be conceded at any time, so how short or long the putt is doesn't really matter. Maybe he makes you putt it because he knows he is getting under your skin and it might affect shots down the road. Best thing to do is just be prepared to putt everything out and don't worry about it. Give him a few longer ones, then when the time is right, on a really short putt, reach down like you are going to give it to him, then just walk away.
  7. pictures of cart girls ti**ies. I have a good collection, but it cost me a little bit of $$... well worth it. Have some pics of nether region piercings as well.
  8. Ball position always changes with type of shot, distance of shot and desired trajectory. If the ball is on an upslope and I have 100 yrds, I'm going to play the ball back, keep my shoulder level and swing "into" the hill to control the trajectory. If I have a 200 yrd shot with the same lie, I'm going to play the ball more forward, keep my shoulder inline with the slope and swing along the slope... taking more club.. of course. Downslopes are more difficult. I just play the ball back, align my shoulders to match the angle of the slope and swing along that angel. I take a little less club because the slope will deloft a club. Basically, I don't try to do much with the shot.
  9. By slow he was trying to explain the head of the club did not keep up with his hands, so the head lagged behind..... so it was slow. I feel it a lot. I don't have the fastest swing, but the way I load the club and release it, I can tell the difference in shaft flex and shaft weight. I need a heavy shaft that is pretty stiff to be able to "keep" up with my release. I have been told by club fitters that I need to change my swing to be able to hit the clubs they "fit" me to. Funny that they try to make the swinger of the club feel bad to try to sell a club that is "perfect" if only they had a better swing. o If you have the same miss over time with a good swing, then maybe you need to change drivers... especially if all the other clubs in the bag are under control. Just be aware of the scams out there. Try a bunch of different clubs with a bunch of different shafts. You never know what is going to work best until you try it.
  10. most of the time in the winter I wear shorts and short sleeve shirt. Once in a while I have to wear pants, a long sleeve shirt and maybe a hoodie. Less often than that, I wears long handles under my pants, two long sleeve shirts, and a rain coat, with a sock hat and some gloves. If it colder than that, I go to a strip club and then it's all about titties and beer. (also a good song.. Google it). Man, I love Central Texas in the Winter.
  11. the lining of the sand trap is an obstruction. It does not matter if you are in the bunker or not, you get a free drop, closest point of relief, no closer to the hole.
  12. My best clubs in my bag are my driver and 3w. I don't care how tight the fairway is, I know I can hit it and with distance. I love that no matter where I aim, I know it's not going left unless I really want it to. There is never any fear to hit a driver or 3-w off the deck.
  13. I don't remember any of the greats of old putting their weight on the left side at address and stay there throughout the swing. But I might be wrong. stack and tilt is not the easiest or most consistent method to swing a club and produce results... it a method of adjustments...Apparently, if two wrongs don't make a right, 10 wrongs does. ROTFL. I'm not saying you can't play and score well with this method. There have been many players of old that had a consistent swing and they came over the top every time. They played a little fade that went a long way. Was their swing mechanically good. Maybe not, but it worked. I golf, all that matters is that it works on a consistent basis. I don't care what you do as long as you can do it every time. Many look at my swing and think it is full of flaws, but I have learned how to hit is straight with what I have... so who am I to judge what works or does not work. All I know is don't believe everything you hear about the golf swing. No one person has all the answers. It is a trial and error to find out what works for you.
  14. You can not play or swing with any kind of fear of what might go wrong. What are you scared of.. hitting a bad shot. We all do that. It is not a reflection of who you are to hit a bad shot or a bunch of bad shots. Just swing with an alert attitude of indifference. That means you try and focus as much as possible, but without regard for results. If you focus 100% and swing the best you can, the results are what they are. If you swing scared, the results will always be worse than if you just let it go, trusting your swing and instinct. After all, golf is not about your good shots, everyone has good shots. It's about how good your bad shots are and if you can recover. Professional golfers are where they are (especially Tiger) because they recover very well from bad shots. the best in the game recover the best from bad shots.
  15. To my best knowledge, Pros are not supposed to sell their used equipment.... especially pros on the mini-tours. Some do, but if they get caught, they lose their deal, but of course on the mini-tours the companies are not paying the players to use their equipment. On the big tour, I most pros probably just give them away, or trade them at equipment shops for putters or what even.
  16. A ball in Denver, Co, will travel farther with the same club as a ball hit in Miami, FL. I think the general rule is 10-15%, but it can depend on the person as well. So if you are in Miami, you might hit a 7 iron 150, but in Denver it might go 165-170.... Or were you asking about elevation changes on one course?
  17. Thank God my sliding of the trail foot is with the transfer of the weight and does not affect anything. I would like to keep it from sliding, but I think I would end up not getting back to square. I need to get a bunch of vids and really examine close up what I need to work on and think on how and if I want to work on them. Honestly, I think this the sliding of the trail foot helps me hold my lag a little longer and helps me keep the club from flipping over at impact. If I kept the trail food down just like Moe, I might have a big hook.... and I don't want that.
  18. Congrats. Keep up the good playing. Once you break a barrier you realize it's not as hard as you once thought and you can do it again more easily. There is a good lesson to be learned from your story. You did not know how well you were doing until the turn, then the pressure was on. What if you don't even think about how good or bad you do until you get done with #18. Just go play the course one hole at a time, write down a number, then add them up when you are finished. No matter what you end up shooting, you will have more fun, and I will bet the farm you will probably play better. It's hard, but try it.

    Golf Rant

I don't care how good you are, everyone goes through periods like this. Golf goes in cycles. Sometimes you can't hit a driver, but the irons are great. Some days you can't hit a green but you get up and down every time. Other days you hit every green, but can't make a three footer to save your life. You have to learn to go with the flow and not worry about it too much. (this does not mean you don't have to work some issues out on the range) If the driver sux, but the irons are good, rely on them and lay farther back in the fairway and trust you can still hit the green with good iron play. Play away from weakness and toward your strengths. Scoring good is about using what abilities you have to make the best with what you have...... and have fun doing it. Relax and enjoy the challenge of scraping together a good round when things aren't going well.
  20. We were playing the other day when we took those vids, and the guy was not very good with the cam. I had to scrap a few he too because they were way off and very jerky. When the weather gets good again, I'm going to go and film irons, hybrids and some wedges. I change my ball position depending on what I want to do. The first on may be a bit farther back because it was into a 20 mph wind and I wanted to keep it down. And as far as jerky goes, I'm slower than I used to be. I am very controlled now and I don't even swing hard anymore. I don't know my carry because it changes depending on the shot I want to hit and how high I want to hit it. I like the ball a little lower, so my carry will not be as far, but I will get more roll. If I tee it up and put the ball more forward in my stance, I can carry it 275 - 290 if I really get a hold of one. My average will probably be around 265-270, but again, I like a lower ball flight - I feel I have more control if I get the ball on a certain trajectory. I can work the ball as well. I love a buttery fade. I have worked hard to eliminate the left side of the golf course, so I have to really focus to hit a big draw with my driver. If I want to draw a ball, I'll just hit my 3-w and because it draws, it goes just as far. Irons I can work both ways pretty easily, but straight is my bread and butter. I know I'm not quite to parallel, but I still have a full shoulder turn. When the shoulders stop turning, there is no need to bend the arms to make a "full" back swing. By not bending the arms too much, everything stays connected very well and the transition is much easier with no loss of power.
  21. Finally, here is a couple vids of my swing. When the weather gets nice again, I'll get some iron shots and some DTL shots. I have not seen my swing on video in a long time. A couple things I noticed. I don't like that my head moves back a little, but it does not affect results at all, so I might deal with it or not (haven't decided yet). I do like that my wrists do not twist in the swing. Look how long in the back swing the arms are straight and the wrists have not changed from their starting position. Another thing I really like is the soft left knee. If my knee was straight, my back would hurt. hheeheh I know it's not like Moe, but I have used some of his fundamentals to get control of the golf ball. I have a few things to work on, but I think a lot before I tinker at all. Besides, I hit t ball straight, so I'm not too worried about it.
  22. If you are playing for fun, take as many as you can carry, but if you want to get better, it's important to learn to hit different shots with the 14 you are allowed under the rules. It will make you a more complete golfer.
  23. sounds like you take it way inside, then over the top on the downswing. Try using the arms to control the takeaway and not the wrists, they should be more passive. Then on the downswing, again, use the arms and swing "under" your self to keep from coming over the top.
  24. some of the best players in the world only hit 1-5 shots per round perfect.. but maybe their standards are a bit higher?
  25. get a distance, figure how much longer/shorter it's playing, pick a club, aim and fire. This all takes place in about 1 minute.
