Got a pic of that volleyball team ? 😎

I went shopping for my retirement truck a couple of years ago. I bought a Toyota Tacoma and so far I love it ! It was my first ever new vehicle. Now I'm not a big long legged guy so perhaps interior space is not as crucial for me as it is for you, but all in all I could not be more pleased with my truck. I get a bit over 20 mpg with a four door Tacoma sporting a fiberglass topper. I can pull my 12 ft. trailer loaded with my ATV with no difficulty. It's even got room for grandma and the two grand kids. Whatever you end up with, I hope you have tons of fun with it.

Several years ago I was playing with a couple of older gentlemen for the first time ( I was pretty new to golf at the time.). I'd known both for years so I was having a good time cutting up with both of them. One of the guys, Joe was getting ready to hit his tee shot on a short par three hole. I asked him what club he was using. He told me he was hitting his nine iron. Just to give him a little razz I told him he wasn't using enough club (like I'd have known) and he'd never make it to the green. He laughed and said, "I think I'll be OK." I said "Joe you'll never make it. " He just laughed at me and said "We'll see" , teed up his ball and proceeded to hit his one and only ever hole in one!

A holed long putt means I've just shaved one or possibly two strokes off whatever my score for that hole might otherwise have been and I'm a happy camper.

For those who deem the experience worth the cost, more power to you and I sincerely hope you get to go and hope you enjoy every minute of it. My inner tightwad will never let me fork over that kind of money for a single round of golf. Not there, not anywhere. For what that would cost I can play a seasons worth of golf on my local course and I'd certainly prefer spending my money that way.

Perhaps he should swap one of his wedges for a shovel.

I'm glad it worked out so well for you.
-
I sure hope they take care of you with a free replacement.

I'd like to know more about what happened and more about what club that is.

Believe me I do understand ! 😩

I'm a lifelong Kentucky fan. I'll have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw from them in the Michigan State game. They played very good defense and Maxey played like an All American ( for at least that one game). Hope springs eternal in Wildcat Country.

Congratulations. Retirement is the best job I've ever had. Enjoy every day !

Puts a whole new spin on the phrase "beating around the bush" .

How Many Golf Balls Do You Lose Each Round?
Philco replied to ChetlovesMer's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Do I get to count the balls lost by others I find against the ones I lose forever to net out my total ? 🙄 -
Give it a whirl and let us know how it goes.

The worst etiquette violation I was ever involved in was not of my making but I sure bore the brunt of it. A guy in our foursome (whom I'd met for the first time that day) missed a very short putt and threw his putter wildly. I was beside my cart retrieving my putter from the bag at the moment I heard him let out a very loud and profane expletive. I looked up just in time to see his putter headed straight at me whirling round and round like a boomerang. It hit me flat across the chest before I had any chance to react.. It could have just as easily have hit me in the head. I didn't say much at the time but I decided then and there I'd never play another round of golf with that guy, and I haven't.

You can find some great deals on used clubs on ebay. I just bought a set of Titleist DCI 962 irons (3-PW) in very decent condition for $28 plus shipping. They're no longer cutting edge technology but they are still a good set of clubs for not a lot of money. You can always spend more later if you wish.

Well I have good news and bad news. First the good news is there's no golf ball in my dogs stomach after all. The bad news is I've lost my ball and will have to take a penalty. Oh yeah, I'm also out the price of a new putter to find out Cleatus didn't eat the golf ball.

I don't think it is ever appropriate for anyone to ask for a tip. Tipping should always be left to the customers discretion.

I went out in the back yard to hit a few shots with my wedges and chipper. First ball I hit was a bright orange one, the only orange one in the bag. My German Shepherd runs over and grabs it as soon as it hits the ground. I figured he'd play with it a minute then drop it..........wrong! I hit a couple more balls and realize he's no longer got the ball, at least it's nowhere to be found and he had not gotten out of my sight. I started looking all around where he'd been and never did find the ball so I'm pretty sure he swallowed it. I called the vet and he wants me to bring him in tomorrow morning for X rays. I guess that will tell the story. Anyone else ever had something like this happen ?

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Not sure if "snob" is the operative word. I'm making a comeback after a nearly 20 year layoff. My clubs are all Taylormade but they are all 20+ years old too. I was never a hard core golfer but I did pony up for a top of the line set of clubs back then. I have no intention of buying anything newer. These shoot better than I aim and they go quite well with my Taylormade bag and cap. lol

I have decided to give golf a second chance. I tried it several years ago and enjoyed it but I simply did not have enough free time to be a golfer. I worked full time and ran a small cattle farm on the side leaving me very little free time. Fast forward twenty years and I'm now retired with more time on my hands than I really know what to do with. I've got a brand new son in law who is interested in golf and I'm hoping that we can share some quality time playing the game. I joined up here in hope of finding info I can use as I take this (second) plunge.
