  1. Using my putting stroke, I'll take anything from a 3 hybrid or 6i to 9i from up to 15' from the green. My goal is to use the loft of said club to fly the ball to the green using a fairly safe stroke. I heard Gary Player say once "your worst putt is as good as your best chip"...I'm a firm believer.
  2. This is ridiculous. I can't fathom how this could go down...unreal

    Fathers...

All my kids are in their 20's but, I do have a 2 yr old grandson I take to the driving range once a week. He has a set of clubs gets his own bag of balls at the range. After hitting balls, he likes to go the practice green and putt around for a bit. I enjoy it just as much as he does.
  4. +1 I was going to mention greenskeeper.org...you beat me to it.
  5. My sentiments exactly. oh joy! looks like he is coming to my home course. Anything anyone want me to pass on to him? from his website: "Come see me play in the National Pro Tour "Ranking School" at Soboba Springs CC in San Jacento, CA on January 10th - 12th!"
  6. Sorry...I was going to stop it after 5 min, but decided to go to 7 min. Couldn't take anymore. Not entertaining or funny.
  7. I take a sharpie and mark the center of the ball with a black line (same as you would mark a ball to line up putts). If I hit the ball correctly, I have a vertical line in the middle of the club at a 90 degree angle. I get immediate feedback if I am striking the sweet spot and if I'm at the right distance from the ball. If I'm too close, the mark angle is toward me...too far mark angle is away.
  8. Funny...I was having the same problem. For some reason, I am confident hitting approach shots with my irons but, a bit rattled on the par 3 tee boxes. They way I'm getting around this is by convincing myself ,while standing on the par 3 tee box, that I'm hitting an approach shot. Since I'm hitting an approach, I do not use a tee. Just something I do and has been working..so far.
  9. Good luck to you! Have it set on my DVR to record...I don't want to miss an episode. Take it to'em!!
  10. Congrats on the picture and more for the fact your daughter plays with you. Still trying to get my daughter to play.
  11. I'll have a couple of bloody marys occasionally. I would have to say it helps calm me down. Not sure how much it helps my game but, it does add to the enjoyment of the round.

  14. Good one! Now that's funny!
  15. I usually go out as a single so I play with strangers all the time. Can't say that I've had a bad experience yet but, one round was more interesting than most. I was paired up with a twosome and another single. The twosome was a pair of gentleman age ranging from mid-late 50's. The other single was a younger man around 45...I'll call him Ray. Well, Ray brought his 8yr old son with him. He was slightly apologetic at first because he son had down syndrome and was very energetic. I assured him right off the bat...no worries. I figured this round was going to be an adventure more than anything else. Did I mention the little guy was energetic? We started playing our round and Ray would let his son take a few strokes at a ball while we waited for the group ahead of us. No big deal. It kept the little guy busy and I was hoping it would wear him out a bit. We get to the 3rd hole. A 191 yard par 3 that has water along the tee box. We are playing the blue tees which are marked by blue painted rock. While we are standing at the tee box waiting for the group ahead, Ray's son picks up the tee markers and starts chucking them in the water! I'm thinking, once we hit on, Ray will fetch the markers out of the water. Nope, he give a chuckle and heads to his cart! I'm looking at the other two guys thinking what the hell and go over to see if I can fish them out. Not a chance...too far out. So this continues on every hole that has water next to the tee. We get to the 10th hole and the twosome decides to split off and play the front 9 again. I figure why not... I'll stick with Ray and his son. Well since it's just me and his dad, Ray's son it just talking away at me. I don't know if he wasn't comfortable with the two other gentleman or what but, he felt like talking. Well we get to the 12th hole, a long par 5, and I take my 2nd shot and the young man asks his dad if he can ride with me. I told him I didn't mind so he jumped in. Well as soon as he sat in the cart he stepped on my foot mashing the accelerator pedal so he could race his dad. I'm thinking what did I get myself into...little did I know. After getting a scolding from me, I drive up to my ball for my 3rd shot. I walk up and as soon as I address the ball, that little son of a gun slides over to the drivers seat and takes off with my cart! I run after him grabbing on to the cart as if I can stop it and he drags me for a couple of feet before I let go. His dad finally got him stopped before he ran the cart into the sand trap. I think Ray thought I would be pissed but, I just laughed it off. However, I did pull the key every time I got out of the cart. The rest of the round was uneventful. I did get a chance to talk to Ray a bit more. He mentioned that he had grown children and adopted his 8yr old son when the boy was an infant. His wife left him soon afterward. He can't work away from home because he doesn't want anyone watching his son. I can't say I blame him. My wife was able to stay home and raise our children. I left that round with a lot of respect for Ray even though I had just met him 4 hours earlier. He could have shirked his responsibilities like the mother did but, I could tell he loves his son very much. I also left with a greater appreciation for my own family...a couple of rocks in the water isn't that big a deal.
  16. Congrats! How much was the bar tab?

    Cheaters

My brother-in-law is a notorious cheater. I've called him on it numerous times. It got to the point I bought him one of those hand held stroke counters and insisted he use it. He refused and continues to cheat. Good luck with your buddy. You could tell him he is making hard on himself to gauge any improvement by cheating and would give him a bad reputation if word gets out...that's if that matters to him.
  18. I use it with the ruler feature. Especially when I'm playing a course for the first time. It's a great tool. I also mark the courses on the map for future reference.
  19. I'm with you on this...I'll be watching.
  20. Thought the name sounded familiar. I looked through my transactions and found that I purchased my titliest stand bag from him. He gave me a second chance offer on the bag since I lost a previous bid by $2. Possibly due to the amount of transactions he does everyday he dumps customers that he thinks require a little more attention...not that your request was out of line.
  21. One week...any longer, I'm no fun to be around.
  22. Congratulations! I was glad to see this wasn't one of those "I shot 72!...for 9 holes " threads
  23. PUTTING! Case in point...par 5 GIR + 4 putt= 7
  24. Standing over a ball 5-6 seconds with out a waggle would be too long for me but, works for you. I wouldn't change anything.
