The 37-year-old was detained outside of his Zionsville house as a special taskforce removed electronics from the property and took them to a mobile forensics van parked in his driveway, [/QUOTE]

I do not think they would throw that much manpower at this, if they did not have some specific evidence. Really sad. I have zero tolerance for this type of predator.

From the daily beast:

Longtime Subway spokesman Jared Fogle reached a plea agreement Wednesday on one count of “unlawful commercial sexual acts with minors” and one count of possession of child pornography, according to an agreement released by the U.S. Attorney of the Southern District of Indiana.

Information released Wednesday alleges that Fogle continued to seek sex with minors after his co-conspirator was arrested.

The former Subway sandwich pitchman used escort websites to have sex with two girls under age 18, according to prosecutors. Between 2010 and 2013, Fogle traveled from Indiana to New York to have sex with the minors, one of whom was 17 years old. Fogle had sex with them as a guest of the Plaza and Ritz-Carlton hotels. Fogle told one of the victims he would pay her a fee if she could find a 16-year-old girl to have sex with, “while stating the younger the girl, the better,” prosecutors said.

As part of the plea deal, Fogle will agree to pay each of the 14 victims $100,000 and will serve no less than five years in prison. The man who ran Fogle’s charity for children, Russell Taylor, was named as a co-conspirator who allegedly filmed nude minors without their knowledge to produce child pornography.

Prosecutors say Taylor gave Fogle the child porn and Fogle “made comments approving of this activity and discussed some of these minors by name.”

Fogle's wife, Katie, issued a statement Wednesday morning that she is "extremely shocked and disappointed" by the developments. "I am in the process of seeking a dissolution of the marriage," she said. "My focus is exclusively on the well-being of my children."

Correction: This post originally stated that Fogle pleaded guilty. In fact, Fogle has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors. He is expected to formally plead guilty in court.

I don't know how these guys continue to think with all the spying being done by NSA and local police plus sting operations that they wouldn't get caught.  Five days is a long time for a child molester in prison, five years might as well be a death sentence.  I'm guessing part of his plea deal was to either be placed in a minimum security prison or be placed in solitary confinement.

I've always wondered about this, of which would be better; from what I understand, solitary confinement for any prolonged period of time is its own death sentence. Does a heck of a number on the mind.

Yeah, it's a tough call, solitary confinement or being raped repeatedly by other inmates.  If I were him I'd take my chances with solitary.

I don't want to come off as a bleeding heart because eff this guy for what he did, but in 2015 America, we shouldn't stand for those two things being possibilities, much less alternatives, even for prisoners like this.

What would be your solution? Because I don't see another one given the prison system here in the US.

Well that's the larger problem, isn't it? That we let our prisons have inmate-on-inmate rape occur with such frequency that the NY Post is joking about it on their front page today. It's a larger societal issue that we let it get to that level because there's no incentive to fix it. Literally: felons don't vote and the public, understandably isn't particularly sympathetic. But it's still shameful.

I'll never understand how they let prison rape and gangs form in prison.

Your meme should give you a clue as to the sociological source of this kind of behavior. :-\

Confine a bunch of aggressive miscreants and they will develop a society that reflects their natural tendencies.

It's a larger societal issue that we let it get to that level because there's no incentive to fix it. Literally: felons don't vote and the public, understandably isn't particularly sympathetic. But it's still shameful.

My neighbor is a retired prison guard from Rikers Island, we've had many discussions about the topic and it seems the movies and newspapers overplay the rape and violence to a large extent.  He didn't say rape never happens but it's typically reserved for the child molesters, pedophiles and those who murdered kids.  The prisons know this and usually isolate these types of prisoners from general population, while he was there they also tried to isolate 18-20 year olds for their protection.  He said outside of "prison justice" rape isn't as frequent as the movies would suggest because there are a large number of inmates who willingly provide services in exchange for prison currency or protection.

Those in maximum security prisons are there because they did some really bad stuff and that behavior doesn't change in prison.  Gang members align with members from their gang inside the prison, but overall, each gang goes about it's business.  Obviously incidents happen and prisoners get hurt but very few are murdered.  I was surprised to learn that the two leading causes of death in prison are suicide and heart disease.   I wasn't so surprised by suicide but didn't figure heart disease for #2.

Maximum security prisons hold criminals who are too violent to function in society, if there's not a magic drug or operation to alter that behavior what do you do with them but lock them up in a prison?  I'm pro death penalty but the legal and administrative costs are so high to actually enforce the sentence it's typically not a highly utilized option in states where it's legal.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
    • Well, this is interesting.  I think we discovered a few months ago that I haven't been following professional golf in a while (my confusion about Scotty's footwork confirmed that), so at least as I aim to follow a bit more I'll get something new to learn with all of you.  My very quick read of Erik's summary makes me think this new Challenger series fits somewhere between Korn Ferry and the Championship (not Champions, but I know I'm going to make that mistake a few times if I'm not careful!).   My recollection is that there were already second-tier events among the PGA Tour;  the Bob Hope didn't have the same quality of field as the event at Riviera (whose current name I forget, although now that I say that, I realize the Palm Springs event hasn't been called the Bob Hope in a few years either).   With the absence of the FedEx (if I'm reading that correctly), does that mean no more FedEx Cup at all? Hopefully I'll have time later in 2026 to sit down and see what we're in for in 2027, where one of my goals already is to follow more professional golf.
    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
