Thanks for the information, I kind of guessed that it is not easy to have a handicap in Australia. BTW, I am guessing that 4 years ago you had a 14 handicap? :-P).

Ha. Maybe closer to 34 years ago. That's an example. BTW. A scratch player here is playing par golf as often as not. We have no slope ratings yet.

More than happy to upload. Can some one please help me to upload my photos from iPad. Also great to see so many haters. You are right I should know I can make it and I do!!! This was posted a year ago, Since I have trained everyday under Ian Triggs who I consider a great friend mentor and coach. I recently played on the Canadian Am circuit untill Calgary was flooded I came. Home my handicap was originally out of a small course karana Downs and was exactly 22.4 I do not care what you believe about me or this thread I was simply updating, as some people had been asking what I ended up doing. My exact handicap in USA/ Canada is a +1 ATM and my golf link was 0.9 waiting on adjustments from my trip to the states and Canada. Once I can upload I will, as for the doubters I'm glad I was able to help you feel better about yourselves. Rember hard work always wins in the end.

Ah......now we get the REAL story.

I US handicap is not the same as an Australian one where handicap is gained in competition rounds.

Just upload the Golflink bit where we see 22 to 0.9 in a year and you'll get my humblest apology and

I WILL BOW OUT OF THIS FORUM FOR LIFE.

Don't get married or have any kids and you'll have a good shot at getting on the Champion's Tour.

I always get a kick out of statements like that. People who can't beat Phil Mickelson now, somehow expect that they're going to be able to do so in 9 years! ;-)

Hey, the apology would be good enough. Most of your commentaries would be sorely missed if you leave for life. What's a forum without some crust?

My old friend from middle school started playing golf at early july 2011 when he was 20 years old. Now he is obviously 22 years old and his hcp is 2.7... he played his first low 80's score in late august 2011. He was semi pro soccer player, so he obviously had a great coordination. Still pretty amazing how fast you can improve if you really work hard. I dont know him anymore though, so i dont know how much he practiced through the winters, however, i couldnt believe my eyes when i saw his hcp and results.

You should be able to upload them with the photo attachment feature that the site provided when you make a post.

I don't know that there are "so many" haters, but did you really think people would believe you when you said that you did this in a year without any proof?  It is extremely rare, and curious that someone would make an account for the purpose of telling unknown people about it and for wondering how far they can take it.  Questing it is not in itself being a "hater" it is logical.  I hope you did do it because that is amazing, but in reality there is more dishonesty here than any of us care to even think about.  So forgive the skepticism if you have done it for real.  You have stuck around and prove people wrong, that is all there is to it.

Try not to take my post-made-in-jest so literally.    Besides, that kid is 23 and is carrying a +1 handicap right now, right?   At his current rate, he'll be shooting in the 50's consistently by next year.

I'm not seeing the part where you were ever actually a 24 handicapper.....   a bad round here or there perhaps, but you seem like you've always been a pretty good golfer from what I'm seeing.

    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
    • Of course there's not a simple or knowable answer here. But the whole Caitlin Clark phenomenon is a nice example IMO. Suddenly there was wall to wall media coverage and national attention and... the women's tournament got similar ratings to the men's and much higher ratings than the men in the final four. With every indication that there will be some portion of the uptick that remains going forward. And there's the whole element that Sue Bird brought up. That basketball needed a pretty enough white superstar guard. One who looks like the "cute little white girls" that describes most of the soccer USWNT that's been able to achieve much higher popularity than any version of women's basketball, which is dominated by black players and none of any race who could be described as little... I do think women's sports are in a good place to start taking off more though. It's really only in the coming 5-10 years that the majority of girls will start to come of age with post Title IX grandmothers (as in their grandmothers were allowed to be serious athletes). I don't follow men's or women's basketball much, but in golf for sure the women's tour has gotten much deeper over the past 20 years and only looks to keep going in that direction. I've heard the same about women's basketball. And the patriarchal attitudes that socialized girls out of sports and everyone out of women's sports fandom aren't gone but have def diminished.
    • Day 43. Working on weight shift and hand path into the net
    • I have nothing to add other than I freaking love her swing and I think she's hot as hell and some of my golfing buddies disagree so I fought them
    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.
