Suggestions for a club to give me a few more yards than my 3H Cally Diablo

I have given up on my driver, RIP. It got subbed last dady on the 10 Tee box after a 10 over front nine. Drives were that skewed I saw parts of the course I never knew existed.  My 3H Diablo came off the bench and did the job.  7 out of 7 fairways hit and just went long on one par 3. Dropped just one stroke over the back nine and that bogey was not because of a lack of distance but just a poor 8 Iron in.  The way I see it is I'm getting greedy again.  Confidence is back. I get approx 200 yrds with the 3H but if I could push it out and get 210, maybe 215 it would be leaving me with a lot more birdie chances. So ye guys got any suggestions for the next rung in the ladder? I have no brand allegience.  I have both the 3H and 5H Diablo Edge hybrids in the bag and both see some serious use.

You might try the Callaway XHot 3Deep Fairway Wood.

Comes in 13° and 14.5° heads and a 43.5" shaft (better control than 46" driver?), and has a deeper face than the other XHot FWs. This is the one Phil Mickelson uses as a "3Driver." (Ignore what happened at Greenbrier Classic...)

I 2nd this, the 3Deep is great off the tee and many guys (not me yet) hit it well off the deck too.

Perhaps the Thomas hybrid driver?

I've played around with some different 3 woods but I keep going back to my old Big Bertha steelhead. I knock the snot out of the ball with that thing...

Since you hit your hybrids OK I would say there's a much better than average chance that your driver is not correctly fit for your swing, especially if you are just buying off of the rack or after what the chain stores call "a fitting" (which is not much better except they have you hit some balls before they pull one off of the rack for you).

Most people have a driver that is too long (longer than most of the pros are playing), with the wrong swing weight, and the wrong shaft dynamics, and then wonder why they can't hit it.

Not to mention my pet peeve, which is "adjustable drivers" where every time the driver is adjusted it changes the spine of the shaft and it's performance. SMH.

I carry a 7 wood - its the same loft as a 3 hybrid, but with larger club head mass & longer shaft, I find it plays considerably longer.      Not 3 wood long, but definitely longer than a 3 hybrid ... and the 7w is WAY easier to control off the tee than the 3 or 4 woods.   When you look into it, you'll be surprised how many of the big companies still make them ... must be more than a few of us still playing them.

2 hybrid?

I play my Rocketbalzzzzzz 2 hybrid somewhere 200-220y. The 3 hybrid is out of the bag, but goes 180-200y.

Also got a 7 wood in the bag. I can play it from 145-185y. Yes, thats a wide range, but its less far than my 3 hybrid. 3 hybrid is more like a 5 wood for me.

Not trying to hi-jack your thread, but I am in the exact same boat as you.

Hit my Diablo Edge 3,4 hybrids really well about the same distance as you, and can hit my irons pretty cleanly 75% of the time. I am a new player, less than 1 year, but have taken a number of lessons from a CPGA pro and have a good idea of what I am doing. Unfortunately, like you, I can't hit the driver to save my life and have recently discovered that my driver (Diablo Edge Tour) is setup as 1 degree open by default, and simply is not fitted for my swing.

You might want to consider getting yourself fitted for a driver, that is my next step, as I now can't play any of the longer courses with my friends, and am stuck playing in the 5000 yd range.
