Quite the opposite; Tiger slam is still in the picture because of this. Recovery should be complete by early June by my count... perfect timing.

2 questions. 1st question. 4-6 weeks rehab after arthroscopic knee surgery. Don't NFL players return quicker then that? 2nd question. This is the third time Woods has had surgery on his left knee. Who knew about the other 2 surgeries?

There is no doubt he will be back in 100% health faster than we think.

He's tiger, he will still win a lot of tournaments > i dont think tiger cares abou the grand slam too much. He has always been 'one tournament. One round. One stroke at a time.'

RE: i read an interesting article in a Aust Sporting magazine that talks about the fact that athletes now bulk up so much, their joints/nerves/tendon's cant keep up. Interesting thought........... I know that this isn't really too applicable to golf, but to impact sports, sure!

Who knew about the other 2 surgeries?

I did... and anyone that's followed Tiger (or golf) closely for awhile knows.

Remember 2006: Tiger played Augusta, his dad died, and he missed the cut at the U.S. Open. That may be his first tournament back again this year, so I don't know that it bodes well. Maybe it'll give him time to work on his putting.

I totally agree.

There is no doubt that his putter/his saviour let him down at Augusta last week. Though, i feel he was unlucky with at least 5 putts not to drop.

Quite from his not top-notch putting, he did look physically not at his peak during the Masters. Not just the way he heaved himself out of the bunker, he had looked as if he was favouring something throughout that round.

It's on his left knee, which seems a little odd: don't right-handed players put more strain on their right knee?

This will be the third operation in not many years, which must be a bit of a concern.

No... Woods has said that back in the day (his Butch Harmon swing) he'd "snap" his left leg for 20 more yards off the tee, and he had the surgeries and moved to Hank Haney to try to work on many things, one of which was eliminating that "snap."

Not much of one, really. They've all been for different things.

I just wonder if perhaps that fist pump at last year's PGA had something to do with it. Remember he holed an eagle or birdie putt on about the 13th green, then fist pumped/punched, and slid a bit down a slope on the back of the green. He visibly hobbled for awhile. That was his left knee. That may have been a truly one-off kind of "ow, that hurt" kind of injury that had nothing to do with this, or maybe not. Most likely not or he'd have done the surgery over the winter... but it could have contributed a little and only recently seen it get to the point of needing another scoping.

Good point. I thought he maybe twisted his ankle when he did that, but the knee makes more sense now.

Took the words out of my mouth...he also needs to stop stopping his downswing when a bird tweets or barely flies in his peripheral vision (a camera flicker i understand). Sometimes I replay those moments on my DVR in slow-mo - OUCH!!!

[QUOTE=iacas;128387]No...

Not much of one, really. They've all been arthroscopic.

It is never a small thing when you operate on the knee, even with the arthroscope. The tolerances in the knee are small and even the smallest scar/fibroid tissue formation seems to trigger the degenerative processes in the joint. That this is a third surgery is indeed troubling. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery.

The bad news for the field... Tiger can play with a bum knee and still take 2nd in a major! Unlike some pros, he did not even mention it. No excuses. No whining about injury.

It appears to be only cartilage damage and not ligaments. As fit as he is, he should not have too much trouble for the next 10 years or so. As he gets closer to 45 years old post-op joints could become arthritic. I am 56 and my post-op right shoulder and left knee always let me know when the weather is about to change.
Yes.... We are seeing Tiger come apart right before our very eyes. I wish him the best, but I really do not see him staying on top after this...

Pro soccer and football players have had far worse damage than this and they are back on the field weeks after surgery. SubPar SubPar

You are comparing golfers to athletes now. John Daly wanted me to tell you that the check was in the mail.

Ok- Tiger is probably the closest thing to an athlete on tour, with a few exceptions.
