I was cleaning my driver and 3 wood and was noticing that I have many ball markings along the very tops of the clubfaces... any ideas to what I need to do to hit the ball more in the sweet spot (lower on the face)?

With the driver would teeing the ball down a little further or maybe even setting up with the ball forward more in your stance fix that? im not answering your question im kinda asking a question on top of the question because I notice the same thing. Appreciate it.

Depends how high. If they are skymarks, then yeah, consider a fix. But if they are just higher on the face, don't worry. Most players prefer hitting their drivers high on the face. My driver wear pattern is high on the toe side, low on the heel side, and center in the middle.

I know you are fairly new to the game, so at this point, mishits should make up most of your shots anyway. When you start to wear down the center of your clubfaces, then you know you're hitting it solid. The smaller the mark, the better the striker. My wear marks are about 1.5" in diameter, consistent with my handicap.

Tee the ball a little lower.

Tee the ball a little lower.

How about with the 3 wood off the deck? Probably basically trying to achieve a lower flight path is another way to look at it (instead of these annoying pop-ups).

I am no swing analyst, but if you are popping up your driver chances are you are taking to steep of a swing path. If you think of your swing as a circle, and then think hula-hoop, you don't want the hula-hoop to be at a 90 degree angle hitting the ball with a driver. The driver should be a sweeping swing so the hula-hoop should be at more of a 50 degree angle when hitting the ball.

I would measure the height of your tee and go down a little. A good way to do this is to measure the height of your clubface with your pinky then make sure you tee the ball only about 1/4" above the club face.

Be careful, a mishit ball on the top of the club can crack it. I have seen it before.

A couple of things I know I've had problems with myself.

1: To steep angle of attack
2: Clubhead getting past the hands, opening the clubface
3: Teeing it too high
4: Hitting the ground with the driver

    • I have nothing to add other than I freaking love her swing and I think she's hot as hell and some of my golfing buddies disagree so I fought them
    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
