when you have a 100 yard shot middle of the fairway , what are your expectations of yourself and what do u normally achieve?

me personally inside 10 feet is the expectation , i probably average 20 feet from the hole from 100 yards away

how about a 60 yard pitch how close do you expect to put it ? and what would you normally

i would expect the same actually 10 feet and in and average about 15 feet away

now how about 15 yard pitch greenside expectations ? average ?

mine 3 feet , average closer to 8 probably

thanks for your help guys feel free to add anythoughts

My expectations: 100 yards - Inside 20' is just fine, easy 2-putt with an occasional one putt. 60 yards - 10-15 feet is OK, I'd like a good chance at one putting. 15 yards - Up and down every time.

Normally achieve: 100 yards - Inside 30', routine 2-putt. 60 yards - Inside 20', routine 2-putt. 15 yards - Up and down 60-70%.

I knew I had read a "factoid" on this, so I went back through my old Golf Magazines. June 2009 edition - I was surprised to find out that, for 50 to 75 yard approaches, the Tour average distance to the hole is 15'-5". This was much higher than I would have thought. After reading that, I haven't been so critical of my short game.

I dont really have any real expectations when it comes to hitting greens. Right now Im just trying to hit at least 10 a round. As long as I 2 putt Im ok.

At the point im at now, I just want to go for the center of the green. Where that leaves me from the pin is fin with me for now. I just want it on the green, so I aim for the meat. I have a lot more misses when I go for the pin on the outside of the green. End up off in the rough, so im going with what I have better luck with.

Expectations:
100 yards: 20 feet
60 yards: 15 feet
15 yards: 3 feet

Reality:
100 yards: inside 30 feet
60 yards: inside 20 feet
15 yards: inside 8 feet

From 15 yards, I'd say that I only get up and down around 20% of the time. Ideally I'd love to cut my average distance in half from 15 yards. I typically have a lot of 6-10 foot par putts.

I'm still rather inconsistent. But assuming I make good contact with my swing, I'm expecting to be on the green. Anywhere on the green will do, though I'll aim somewhere between the middle of the green and the flag.

Don't have any expectations in exact distance, but on the green and close enough for a makable two-putt. Depends on the flags location. If it's close to the water I might not go for it, but play it on the safe side. I always expect to hit the spot I aim at, with an added safety for when I pull it now and then.

Some interesting stats from Tiger Woods' website:

Pro's play on really hard courses though.

It's easier to get close to the pin. On a Professional course the pin is normally in a scary position.

100 Yard Shot - I expect inside 25 feet. I'm typically pretty good with a full pitching wedge. I'd say, on average... I'm a little more than 30 feet away.

60 Yard Pitch - I expect inside 25 feet, also. This is pretty much a full sand wedge for me (maybe a little less than full). Typically... I'm inside my range of 25 feet.

15 Yard Pitch - I would like to have it inside 10 feet. As I don't have anywhere around here to actually PRACTICE the 15 yard pitch... I average a little over 15 feet to the hole.

hmmm..never really put a number on it
inside a 100yds I would expect to make a two putt and sometimes get it in one...i guess??
i think if i put a number on it, I would be placing a lot of pressure on myself...then ill start to miss

I know that after putt one i need to be in the hole OR within 3 feet..then shes pretty much a guaranteed tap in

My expectation is 3 strokes, either hit the green and 2 putt, or close miss followed by an up-and-down.

The reality ...hmm...I should take notes, might be interesting.

For 15 yards and in I usually manage to get up and down about 5/6 times out of ten.
Usually my expectation from 100 and 60 yards are the same, giving myself a chance to can the first putt or having an easy two putt. I think that means about 10 feet and that's what I usually average.

I work on the 6~10% theory of golf. This means I pick my target, and I pick a target that given a 6~10% "deflection range" I consider that a good shot.

so 6% or 100 yards is 6 yards or 18'
10% of 100 yards is 10 yards or 30'
so anywhere between 18 and 30' from the target is a great shot. Also, I am a high handicap, so I generally always go for the middle of the green, and in reality if I stick the green from 100 yards I am happy. but I also play to a 21 handicap.

from 50 yards those distances would be half, and anything inside of a full swing I expect to put it within 6% variance and I am not happy with anything less. so 50 yards would be about 9 or 10'
In reality, i am probably 20' or more on average.

from 15 yards and in, I would like to get up and down, but in reality I probably take 3 strokes (up and two putt) alot more often.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

Interesting. I like the idea of a quantitative measure of one's expectations.
