Bethpage Black $65/weekday $75/weekend. That's quite steep. Is this because the US Open was played on it last year? Not very happy about this big price jump!

Twilight is 4pm. Another thing - I think the no-show fee is $10 or $15, I forget which, but check, as it's not trivial anymore. Maybe the silver lining is fewer people will play, meaning shorter rounds. Hopeful thinking probably.

...just takes some research ;)

Doh!

I didn't check the site because I listened to the phone reservation # instructions which said don't check the web site, the fees were not updated. I normally would have checked, but I got lazy.

Steep? I'd gladly pay those prices for such nice courses. Hey, because of our piece of crap mayor, who nickled and dimed us to death for everything since he became our lame leader, last I played, it cost, on weekends, $63 with cart to play the city courses. Are you kidding me????? I go to my buddy's home course on LI and, as a non-resident, pay $65. And it's a wonderful experience. Same with other LI courses. But pay almost the same for the NYC, which some are in horrendous shape still, and so overcrowded, where at times a round is almost 5 1/2+ hours, is a rip-off. Even to walk these course are close to $40, maybe more now. It's disgusting.

Anything you do around NYC is going to be overpriced. The number that will pay outnumber the people that wont. Its just the nature of the beast. The prices to play back when i would fart around with my dad and uncle to now have jumped alot, though. But at the same time, the bethpage courses arent cowpatches like they used to be 10 or so years ago.

Your talking about the black course right?

I'd pay that for a chance to play a course that's had 2 U.S opens on it.
I probably wouldn't break 100 but still it'd be fun!

They also lost the head groundskeeper, Courier I think his name was. Can't tell if that had an effect on the shape of the course though.

Those are incredible prices for a course with the Black's pedigree. Granted, it takes some work to get on, but they could easily charge $200+ and still fill the tee sheet. Granted, the locals would be peeved, and it would be the wrong thing to do. But they could.

The junior cutoff is usually 18. I don't know about Bethpage specifically, but I would assume it's the same.

I know its still a good deal but just the fact that the price rose dramatically compared to the other years, it really sucks. I was looking forward to play it early in the season but I guess I will wait when my game is in better shape.

NYC local muni's start twilight at 2-4pm for the most part and you can finish 18 holes before dark. I really can't complain about $18 for 18 holes even though the course isn't long.

For those in Queens/LI, I think right now one of the best deal is twilight(1:00pm) at Pine Ridge Golf Course in Coram, NY. $35 greens fee which includes a cart.

Red, Blue, Green and Yellow didn't go up, did they ? I remember paying around $50 for Red last year with reservation fee and #1 and #18 under construction. Who am I kidding, I'll still play Beth and IKE.

Only played a couple of weekend rounds this year, but unfortunately, length of rounds are still awful. Doesn't look like fees have reduced demand.

On the Black course, non- New York residents pay $150 on weekends & $130 during the week + $5 per player reservation.

On the Red Course, non-NYS residents pay $86 during the week, $96 on weekends, which is insane.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
