So I contacted the seller a butt-load and he gave me the serial no. on the shaft and assured me that it was real. He even told me that he would take it back if I found that it was a fake. I guess you can say that I'm paranoid because I won it on a bid. Lol. I just want to make sure because I know that there are many who made the mistake of buying a putter on eBay and finding that dreaded plastic wrap on it. I'm a lefty so I also want to know if they make fake lefty scottys as well. I've done a lot of research and everything is spot on so far. I just need others' input to help me and bring closure to the real/fake issue that I'm having. Thank you guys on TST's forum. Your input will be greatly appreciated. Have a nice and positive day!

I've got just the same putter, only right handed and with 15g weight insert, instead of 10.

Judging by the pictures, it is 100% identical to mine.

Hey Zeph...Thanks for the input...every bit of help I can get makes me feel better about the putter. By the way, I was looking at your bag pictures. Brilliant set up you got there. Your vokeys look heavenly and it looks like you got a custom grind there (unless it's the finish). Beautiful set up once again. I'm sorry, I just love looking at equipment. lol.

Your biggest protection from fakes is the fact that you are a lefty. You might get some comfrot by noting that on those ridiculous sites full of clubs going for 25% of retail price, none of them sell LH clubs. Rest assured that your putter is legit.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Yeah i agree. Lefty counterfeits are rare. The obnoxious headcover looks right too. Unfortunately those headcovers bring attention to your putter and make them more of a theft risk, IMO. I dont use it on mine.

Yeah, the stock headcover is no pretty sight. I've changed my grip, don't like the red corded one, and my headcover to this one:

Cost me £10.

I regripped with the baby t. The cord feels great when its new, it has a nice firm feel. But it got a little slimey on me after a few months.

I went with the Pingman grip. I know Tiger use it and I know a lot of others use it, which is kinda why I picked it. If that many people use a grip, it shouldn't be too bad. And I really like the feel of it. It's like my hands melt with the grip, giving me great confidence. Something I did not have with the stock grip, all lumpy like grit paper. Each to his own. I considered the Baby-T, but it is textured, more expensive, and harder to come by for me. The Pingman is all smooth, just the way I like it on a putter.

Also re-gripped my Scotty

hated the cord feeling Tried the PINGMAN, but it was too small and i didnt like the rounded edges Replaced it w a IOmic Midsized White and its amazing fits me perfectly and just a hair larger than the OEM Scotty grip to the OP - my buddy just won a LH Scotty on ebay too There is a dude that sells really only lefties i think...cant remember his name though i have the same putter in RH and it looks just like mine if u REALLY want to know, you can send it to the Scotty Shop and have it authenticated (sp?) for $60 I think......

looks pretty legit, im a lefty (bought a squareback off ebay), i thought a similar thing about counterfeits, if major companies dont bother making their clubs in left hand because of the small market, why would crims make fakes for a small market. which seller did you buy it from?

I have just fitted this grip to my putter, feels real nice and as you said there are lots of pro's who don't play Ping putters using the Pingman Grip (Ping JAS PP58) including Tiger....

It does get slimey, that's for sure. I just sand them a little every now and then to rough up the cord, and good as new. The headcover on mine (same putter as the OP, SC SS Newport 2) is just god-awful though. I just haven't found a good one to replace it though. I'm thinking about the Circa 62 headcover maybe, because no where on it does it say Circa 62.

    • Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.
    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club?
