I don't know if any of your guys remember my topic a week or so ago, but I broke the shaft in my 09 Burner, and wasn't really sure what I should do to fix it. I was debating buying a new shaft or just buying a used driver. Well, I ended up ordering a UST V2 stiff shaft for my burner.

I'm not sure of all the specs on the shaft, but the assistant golf pro in the Mississippi State Golf Academy help me get the correct specs on the driver. I believe I ordered a mid kick to help with how high I hit the ball.

I'm excited to get the shaft in. It cost $70.

Do you guys think I picked a good shaft? There was another shaft I looked at for $110, but I just could justify spending the extra $40.

You need some serious swing speed to make the most of that shaft. THe V2 stiff really IS a stiff shaft.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

UST Proforce V2 Shaft Profile Written by SirPuttsAlot Monday, 01 May 2006 Profile – The Proforce V2 line is the perfect mix between low torque and a responsive tip. UST’s challenge with this shaft was to design a product that could keep a larger head stable without a “boardy” feel. The previous UST Proforce line - known to many as the “purple and yellow ones” were solid low torque options but many people I talked to felt they lacked feel. What Makes It Work – UST has focused the majority of their efforts on the tip section of this shaft. With input straight from the tour UST has been able to create a high performance shaft that is very versatile. The V2 has a lower torque rating than the original ProForce and is very stable for today’s oversized drivers. It manages to combine this with a fairly responsive tip section that produces a mid trajectory ball flight with low spin. Who’s it For – UST has tried to create a V2 for everyone… the shaft is offered in 5 different models. The V2 55 is geared towards the slower swinger that wants tip stability and a higher ball flight. The V2 65 and V2 75 are designed for golfers with a quicker swing. The ball flight created by these shafts is a bit lower than the V2 55. The company also offers a V2 Lady (in a pink and purple color scheme)and V2 Junior. Like any shaft.. it’s vital that a golfer finds the right shaft for them. What People Say – The V2 could be one of the best shafts for the price. People like the stability that it provides and are often surprised that it still offers decent feel. You’ll find the V2 available as a custom option from many leading golf manufacturers and I’ve found it works especially well in the Titleist 905R. A word of warning… most of my customers have found this to be a great driver shaft but shy away from it in their fairway woods. Consider the 65 or 55 in fairway woods… it gets the ball up a bit quicker. More Information – www.ustgolfshaft.com

I have three woods with UST Pro Force shafts. You should like it a lot provided you don't try to muscle it. I found a moderate grip and rapid swing without a lot of tension in the arms let these shafts work their magic. My swing speed is around 105 according to the Mizuno stick. The stiff version is great for me.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

I agree too. I swing about 105 and hit the ball a good ways, but the V2 is way too stiff to help my distance. A lot of the pros love it though. It'll be interesting to see on your Burner.

Are you going to install it at the stock Burner length, which is about 46 inches, or cut it down some? Increasing the length over the standard 45 inches will loosen that shaft up a bit and might make a big difference.

You'll be fine. The V2 is a stiff tip for a lower launch, 1" on the butt end will not make much difference in how the shaft plays flex wise at all. Be sure you don't mess with the tip tho'.

Now my only question is what size tip shaft did you get for your club?

If you have a decent speed from 95~110 , V2 is a great shaft .

My Driver ( 3 of them ) , 3W and Hybrid use them .

I love the PF V2s, have them in one of my drivers, several fairways, and one on a hybrid. I swing 110mph, with a pretty quick tempo, which I think is why this shaft works well for me. I find the 65g Stiff to be a touch loose in a driver, I tipped mine 1" in a Hibore XL and feel it could have used a little more. This week I hit a G10 with 76g Xstiff off the used rack at GG, and it felt very good, maybe a touch boardy. I think a 76g Stiff, tipped 1/2-1" would be perfect.

Hosel depth and BBGM will also play a factor in how it feels. The deeper the hosel or the shorter the BBGM will make it play a tad more stiff and vice versa.

There diffent weights available in stff flex. I'm sure his pro mated him with a good fit.

The V2 is a stellar shaft with a loyal following.

Wow, after all the replies, I really feel like I made the right decision. I'm excited to get it and get it on the range. It should come in around Wednesday or so.

My swing speed is around 102-105mph, so I think the shaft will be good for my swing. I'm going to spend some time out at the golf academy this summer and try to improve my swing, but I really think the shaft will also aid in my drives being hit a little lower.

I'm starting to work at the course some starting next week sometime, so I'll have plenty of time out on the course to get on the range. I'm going to start spending a lot more time on the range and playing less.

pchaney301, which burner do you have ? The '07 or the '09 ? I'm thinking of going with the V2 stiff 65. SS is like 105-112 last i checked. The stock shaft in my '09 kicks the ball too high and feels like a noodle latley.

I have the V2 in my Nickent driver and really like it. I think the shaft more than the head helped me get some extra consistency out of my driver. 75 gram shaft that is truly stiff I think was the key for me. Those super light weight shafts were just to light for my swing.

Scott, I have the 09 burner. I got it last summer and still love it.

I'm pretty positive I ordered the 65g shaft. I can't wait to get it and get out on the range. I think I'm about to head to the range now, and possibly get in 9 holes this afternoon.
