Golf balls at the range

Do you nick em :)

I dont have a range for 150kms so cant say i do, but just got thinking, if you liked the balls enough would you nick em and chuck em in your bag. Only costs 5-10 bux for 50???

nope.
Most have no dimples left on them so they hardly fly.
Some ranges use Pro V1's and a lot of them would get stolen.

Maybe 6 balls out of a bucket are worth it at my range. They're not all rocks, but definitely not worth taking.

my range uses real balls, but sometimes they are pretty beat up. I will say that last month, hitting about 2 buckets a week, I took home 3 ProV1's. Its like finding a little gem in your bucket lol So I found 3 good balls, out of almost 850 balls.

My local range just got new limited flight balls - to the chagrin of the long drive club - what a bunch of goofballs. Anyway, one those limited flight screaming yellow Srixons might be just what I need to keep the ball in play!

Some ranges are next to fairways and players' balls get mixed up with the range balls. If I notice a nice ball in a range ball bucket I will keep it and replace it with a crap ball from my bag.

First hole (Par 5) runs parallel with the range at my primary course. Usually find ~4 balls per large bucket that might be worth "nicking", but I don't usually take 'em. Once in a blue moon a Pro V1 comes around - yahtzee.

Every once in a while, I'll snag a few. Not for actual play, but sometimes I have to wait for a while on holes, and I'll use the range balls and hit them into the woods....

What kind of question is that? It's sort of like asking, "Unattended clubs outside the restroom at the range... do you nick 'em?"

No. Stealing range balls is theft. It's minor theft, but theft nonetheless. Most of the balls at my range are cheap yellow range balls with the black stripes, so it'd be obvious if you did it. When I do find the nice balls, such as the pristine Pro V1x I found in the bucket today, I consider it a chance to take a practice shot on a real ball. I put those aside until I'm warm, and use whatever club I'm most interested in practicing with. Then I hit it into the range and, if I'm lucky, watch it sail farther than the shots I was hitting with the range balls and get to leave with a fuzzy feeling.

The range at my course has red stripes on them as well as the course logo.
