They all have a urethane cover so there won't be much of a diffence.
I've heard srixon's last the longest so I think you've already got the best ball.

Pro v's don't suck but you have to replace them every 3 holes......

All high end balls are urethane covered and wear at at approximately the same rate. I actually found the Nike One Tour to be surprisingly durable. Though you might consider a lower spin ball to assist you with slicing and/or hooking off the tee.

I think last year's version(TX4 Pro) was great. They changed the dimple pattern this year for great spin for the new wedges.

^^^^I recently ordered some of the TX4 Wilson Staff balls and they are great. With the urethane cover they still give you a lot of spin and control around the greens. I would definitely suggest these, especially because of the price!

Based on all that slicing and duck hooking you've been doing off the tee lately (your other threads), are you sure a high end high spin ball is the best route for your game?

Does nobody here play the Callaway Tour i? I use them and I've read some ProV converts say they last longer. But based on some of the comments in this thread I guess it's likely that they wear at the same rate.

For some reason, Callaway Tour i (ix and now iz) all seem to wear out faster for me than other premium golf balls like Pro V1x and Nike Tour.

no...you dont... even tho your exaggerating i dont understand why.

to the OP- what do you have against the pro v1's. last your when the vokey sm's were legal i had sm 52,56,60 and i never tore the cover off a ball so bad i had to replace it and i can make them back up just fine. i seriously have no idea why you have such a problem with pro v's. they spin more than anything else and they go far enough. so what are you looking for in a ball and why hate on pro v's

Two guys in my scramble yesterday were "gaming" Pro V1s - every second hole they were in the water or woods. I've never actually played a round with someone who finished 9 or 18 holes with the same Pro V1.

1. they are very overprices for the way they shread they should be priced at 25 a dozen.

2.if ur not wearing the cover your wedges are dull mine shread it everyshot.

3. everyone and his dog plays the ball why because its the so called number one ball in golf which is going to change because srixons z star is twice as good and 5 bucks cheaper.

i just bought a sleeve of pro v's. After 9 holes they were browning in color and had scuff marks all over. I wanted to replace it because it was like brown in color but didnt because thats expensive to throw away a ball after 9 holes esp when they are so expensive. Other than that they played pretty good.

Anyone remember the old Titleist Tour Balata's? Has there ever been a golf ball that fragile? :P

I've played Titleist ProV's for the last 10 years exclusively. This year I tried the TaylorMade Penta and I can't imagine ever playing anything else. The all around performance of the Penta is simply stunning. Where it blows the ProV away though is the low speed performance around the green.

Just as an example, I had a 50 yard wedge into the green last week from medium length rough and a pretty crappy lie. I hit the shot (using a 56 degree Vokey) assuming the ball would run out 10-15 feet because of the rough. The ball hit, hopped a foot and stopped dead. The other three guys in my group all looked at me in astonishment. None of us have ever seen a ball spin like that on a half wedge from the rough.

Driver: VRS 9.5 degrees

Fairway Wood: 13 degrees
Hybrid: A3 19 degrees

Irons: i20's  Yellow dot

Wedges: Vokey's 52, 56 & 60

Putter: 2 ball

Ball: Penta; ProV

i play them for full rounds all the time. then again i dont care all that much about the ball so im never worried about losing them.

to kevinbomb. my wedges arent dull because i replace them about every month and a half with brand new vokeys or clevelands strait out of the plastic. i just pinch the ball between the ground and the club because i actually attack the ball unlike you because for you to "shred" the ball you have to be coming in contact with more surface then necessary. pro v1's arent the only $45 ball, theres callaways, taylormades, bridgestones, and nikes that i can think of off the top of my head but you don't discriminate against them. actually my dog is more into the bridgestone balls but i do tend to lean toward the pro v1x's or the tp penta's. most golfers actually just play whatever they find and when they find a pro v1 they play it because they are good. for those people who know anything about their own game dont just play any pro v, i play only the pro v1x because it has a higher compression for my higher swing speed. if you really want an answer you should get fitted for a ball instead of asking people on a website without them knowing anything about your game. if you actually want help from people who clearly know golf and golf technology well you can post a swing, your swing speed, your launch angle, your spin rate, and a bunch of other number and we can all take educated guesses but if now i dont see why you dont just buy a bunch of high end balls and figure it out because your not going to listen to anyone who suggests a $45 ball
