File this with the How far to you hit your dirver catagory.
I fully expect the 270-300 yard response from a few.

My question is what is the average maximum distance that you can reach a green
after your tee shot. For example a long par 4 or a par 5 hole that is straight, flat, no wind, etc.

Myself for example, I can't hit a 3W from the fairway lately. At least not reliably or significantly longer than my 17* or a 20* hybrid. When I am hitting them well that distance is about 200-220 yards. I am usually out of play on a par 5 going for it in 2.

Hopefully you get the jist of my question, let's hear from you.

I wont use a 3 wood into a green unless i have lots of room to land the ball and have it run. So unless i have that scenario, about 225-230 is the max distance i can comfortably get to with my 17 hybrid. Anything longer and i have to either swing hard, or pull the 3 wood.

I average about 220-230yds with my 3 wood on a second shot/long fairway. My 5 woods are about 200 yds. I measured a 3 wood, second shot last weekend that was on a pretty good incline (hitting uphill) and it was 223yds according to the rangefinder. Landed 6 yds off the left side of the green, about flag high. One pitch and one putt for a birdie. Hey, luck counts, right?

The furthest I have ever hit and held a green was from 235 out. Usually 210-215 can even be trouble and Ill end up having to chip. I am comfortable with anything under 200 though.

I could probably reach a green with my 21* from about 190. But I'm not accurate enough to trust that shot to land exactly were I want but if I got close enough to chip I'd be happy.

The highest club I could hit from the fairway and trust to land were I want is my 6 iron and that's about 160 yards off the deck for me.

If I hit my TM 5-Wood (18*) straight I will be in range at 260 away, but the straight part seems to be the issue. I've developed a bad hook so the straight isn't easy to come by as of right now. On the courses in my area, I rarely am faced with that distance on a second shot unless I do something horrific off the tee

I can't hit fairway woods off the turf very well, but my 3H goes around 240ish when I do hit it, with all the mishits though, average would be like 200.

For some reason, even if I do hit my 3 wood well, it doesn't go as far my my Slingshot 3h.

I RARELY go for the green if I am 220+ out

if i'm confident i can stay away from trouble i'll hit 225-230 at a green with my 3 wood. anything outside of that and i'm laying up as close to the 100 yard marker as possible.

It depends on the course, the time of day, and who I'm playing with.

Factors that reduce my green light distance: since I can't see the ball past 200 yards, playing alone, playing twilight rounds or with strangers who can't spot well, also a bad lie if it's very penal around the green.

Factors that increase my green light distance: scrambles, wide open spaces, good visibility or a good spotter, days when my long game is on.

This year I've laid up to the 100 yard marker from 195 out and hit the green from > 200 in the same round - it depends on a lot of things. My longest approach by far this season was in a scramble of course. To a slightly elevated green, 281 yards out, I put the ball pin high on the left apron. If I'm faced with that kind of shot in a non-scramble round, it's a layup to the 100 marker every time.

I can usually hit it 300-340 from the fairway with my 3-wood. If the conditions are perfect it turns into about 360.

I just prefer to drive the green with my tee shot...I prefer my second shot on a par 5 to be a putt. /turn sarcasm off I have yet to play a hole where I really needed to knock the snot out of my second shot where I haven't been able to just club up and hit it normal, yay for short courses.

Max distance, i would have to say a couple weeks ago i hit a 3-wood from 265 and landed it pin high from the pin, thats after topping my drive past the lady's tee ;b

But the max i ever did, 285 with a 3-wood, off a tight lie in myrtle beach. Don't know why, but i just nuke that 3-wood off of very hard lies, if its wet out, take alot off it. But ifs august in ohio, little water, i can smoke a 3-wood pretty good.

If I'm in the range of about 210-220 yards to the green I can get it on or within chip shot distance with the 3 wood if I hit it well, which is most of the time.

Your putting must be shitty.

usually 250-260 with a 3 wood. If we are in a scramble and already have a good shot ill hit my driver off the deck. I have only done it twice, once was a super low 175ish carry and rolled out to 225 or so. The other actually went just shy of 300 but i had a lie where i could get the ball in the air.

I've never really considered this stat before, but I would venture to say my max average would be around 155 - 165. I feel pretty confident stepping up to the ball with my 4 or 5 hybrid and 200 - 210 yards to go but the reality is I hit very few greens from this distance.

If your question was, what's the max you can hit a green from, I would say 210 because I have hit a green from that distance before, but certainly not with any regularity. I can hit my 3w a ways - when I hit it well (not often) and I usually only hit it from a tee since I don't have the confidence to hit it from the fairway during a round.

190 with my 3 hybrid. It is a great club off the fairway. 3 wood will do 200, but not as reliably.

All numbers assume no extenuating circumstances and a relatively flat hole (wind, etc.)

Average distance to reliably hit the green 80% of the time or better: 160-165 (7 iron)
Longest distance where I have a solid chance to get on but I'll just as often miss it: 205 (hybrid)
Longest distance where finishing on the green is in my head, although I'm really hoping just to leave myself a simple up and down: 235 (3 wood)

I don't even think about hitting the green from greater than 240 or so unless there's a heavy tailwind/downhill, etc. I'll usually lay up or will swing a long club to get around the green if there's little risk in doing so.
