Mizuno 3W ~ 215 yards

Mizuno MX-20 3i ~ 185 yards

Current I hit my 5W (Mizuno) about 190 yards but I tend to snap hook it or push it most of the time. Not sure why but I hit my 3W better. I am thinking that I need a 3 hybrid. Could you please recommend me an easy to hit hybrid that will give me about 200 yards (judging from the 3i and 3W distances). I have never hit a hybrid club before. I tend to hit long irons better than woods.

Thanks,

I have a Nickent 3dx ironwood 3 hybrid 20* and I hit it 190-200. It is the only sure thing in my bag. It is probably to much club for you since you are probably a better ball striker than me but if you look around these can be had for less than $50. So if this isn't it you wouldn't be out much

I would sugest a hybrid that has 17-19* loft. There are alot of good hybrids now days. Some of the best ive hit would be. Titliest 909H, Nike Vr, Nike Sumo and Nickent 3dx (I think, im not sure about witch one I used) and all the Ping hybrids are great. G5, g10, g15, I15.

Well since you hook your 5 wood, alot of hybrids tend to cause people to hook the ball so maybe you should try a 4 wood

What I Play:

In my case 4i ..... if you say you hit irons better than woods, forget about a hybrid !

Hybrids are marketing, most of these will be gone in a few years .....

I would advise the better iron player to get a 2i or a hybrid that is more an iron than a wood by design, like the Adams Idea Black Pro.

I don't have a specific club recommendation for you, but just look up the lofts of both your 3i and 3W and then get a club that has a loft right in between. In theory, that should get you to 200yds.

Thank you for your recommendation. Redsox98 got me looking into the 3DX, 4DX, and 5DX Nickent woods and ironwoods. I found out that these clubs are very popular even with the Pros. I have decided to go with the Nickent 4DX Ironwood at 17º. My 3W is 13.5º and my 3i is 20º so I decided to go with a 17º club which is right in between my 3W and 3i like glbrum suggested.

From my research, the 4DX tends not to hook like many hybrids which is good for me. Another reason that I selected this is because of the low price. I got it new from ebay for $40 plus $9.99 shipping. If I can't hit it I can always put it on Craigslist for $35. I will let you guys know it turns out. I will get the club early next week.

why not just practice your swing and get your 5 wood swing fixed instead of buying new clubs for everything?

if your 3 wood is heading 215, your 5 wood should be reaching 200 with a good swing.

I have tried the last 3 years but just don't like to hit the 5 wood b/c of the snap hook problem that I can't get rid of. I hit other clubs much better. This is also an opportunity to try a hybrid for the first time.

The Nickent hybrids are nice-I don't always use a hybrid, but sometimes I do-and I also can have the hooking issue, but was never an issue when I used the Nickent. I think for $50 it's worth a shot, and it's a good idea to have a reliable club that slots in between a strong 3 wood and a 3 iron.

I have tried this before but I tend to block right with this method.

why not choke up on the 3 wood and take a 3/4 swing?

Hope it works for you! Nickent was one of those company's that made a great product and maybe to good for it's price point.

What is your distance with the 5 iron? Its a easier club to hit than the 3 iron. I struggle with the 4 iron, can't hit a 3 iron to save my life but the good old 5 iron is my 200 yard club. I just bought a couple of Taylormade 3 & 4 hybrids to replace my 5 & 7 woods thinking they would be easier to hit. I've played two rounds with them and I am struggling with them as well. So I rely a lot on my 5 iron.

You probably need a 17* 2 hybrid. You could also get a 4 wood but since you don't much like your 5 wood I wouldn't recommend it.

Exactly, I bought the Nickent 4DX Ironwood at 17º from ebay earlier.
